Castlelaw Training Area

I had a walk around the Castlelaw Defence Training Estate Area today and it was a most enjoyable experience.The road to the car park in is just off the A702 and is signposted Castlelaw Hill Fort".Once you have parked your car there is two choices of walks to do.I did both.The first walk is hilly and steep in places heading north towards Dreghorn.It takes you past the fort.The second walk is flat and takes you south west towards Glencorse Reservoir.Remember that you are on MOD land so observe the by-laws and do not touch any military debris that you may see on the ground and only enter the Castlelaw Defence Training Estate Area when the red flags are down and the red lights are off.You are pretty safe anyhow as the ranges themselves are condoned off from the public and you cannot gain access.However you can walk outside of the ranges area.Overall the Castlelaw Defence Training Estate Area is a nice place to walk in and I would recommend a visit to the Castlelaw Defence Training Estate Area."
