Spent thousands of pounds over the year's in this shop went in too buy my grandson's a rc car and the staff wasn't very helpful and made me & my grandson's feel very uncomfortable indeed :( and everything I asked for they never had it in and had no stock in, shelves very empty and even my grandson of 6yrs old said how come there's no models in a model shop grandad haha, wasn't a nice experience and never made too feel welcome at all and kept on saying too my grandson's don't touch this don't touch that , defoe won't be going back here in a hurry that's for sure iyl go too a place were a model shop sells models and not empty shelves haha

Can’t recommend this shop enough! Phil more than went out of his way to help me. I brought in a starwars blaster I had purchased and wanted it motorising and the sound board wiring in! Phil added a motor in for me, and wired everything up, it’s now motorised and makes the noises I wanted it to, and he done all this for me in a day or so and at a very reasonable price. Fully recommended.

My husband and my grandson went into this shop to see if they had any spare parts for a model boat, the owner was very unhelpful and was telling my grandson not to touch anything, it was like he didn’t even want them in the shop, my grandson even said to me “Nan that man in that shop was horrible “ and he’s 7 years old, don’t think they will be entering that shop again or recommending it to anyone else

Very good variety of a hobby shop which covers all aspects of rc and model trains. The shop stocks nitro fuel and some nitro cars which is nice too see. If they don’t have something you want, you can ask them to order it online for you threw them. 5 star advice

Found this great little shop, needed nitro fuel, glow plug and starter for my buggy, they had the all, and even picked up a piece of track for my rail way set up, defiantly going back, and the guy was really helpful, even said if you can't fix it, bring it in and we will have a look for you. My buggy runs perfect now

I purchased a car from Formby Models a few years ago for my son's, I recently decided to John a RC car club and build myself a competition 1/10 car, I went back to Formby models and was instantly greated with a smile from the owner, all the staff give it the family run business feel, the advice I have recieved has been invaluable as you would expect from such friendly knowledgeable staff, they have also stopped my needlessly spending money meaning I was sold exactly what I needed and nothing more, if your in need of help advice anything this place is worth traveling too, I've uploaded some images of my car all the electrics where fitted and soldered by Formby models. Great store with plenty of options and very reasonable prices. I like to walk here and buy what I need because it’s nicer than ordering online and waiting a few days to get what I’m after.Stock is always high quality and staff are very knowledgable on all items they sell.

As a returning customer from 20+yrs ago when I was a keen R/C fanatic, I've been so happy to return to Formby Models after so long and see this fantastic local, small business still doing so well!I’ve had a steep learning curve, returning to the hobby with some expensive mishaps and mistakes!I ordered a JDM Tamiya model, which was to be developed as an RC Drag car. The team here are outstanding! Always keen to give you honest expert advice, so helpful and friendly! Phil took the time to help recommend the best combination of speed controller, LiPo batteries and motor to give this car acceleration timed at Santa Pod of 0-60 in under 2seconds and attracted a crowd of spectators.. Thank you so much!I'll try not to break it again now ;)
