the nightmare of getting dry rot sorted in your house. make sure you get as many quotations as possible and try to get as best a picture of where it might have spread too - not completely possible. Ultimately it comes down to you feeling of whether you have someone who will do a good job and at a fair price. Try to get an apples for apples situation with quotes and dont be afraid to challenge, despite how vunerable you might feel. We plumped for Richardson and Starling and they have been excellent. Ian and Dave who did the job were brilliant-tidy, conscious that they were pulling your home apart and kept you as informed as possible. Job was done ahead of time and Chris Bickett who managed the job communicated well and was helpful throughout. I would definately recommend this firm as they have an excellent approach and want to deliver quality.

We had used Richardson Starling’s fife branch previously. We instructed this one to install a ventilation unit. Despite numerous calls, emails no work has started and now we are receiving no response from them. I wouldn’t use or recommend a company who do not have basic business skills. I would avoid to save wasting your time.

During some DIY renovations, I unfortunately came across some dry rot behind a built in unit. A local Plasterer recommended Richardson and Starling who I called immediately. Within two days a representative came around the house who reassured me that the problem had not spread and explained the procedure to me. An appointment was made at my convenience and their technician, Dave, came around promptly at the agreed time. I found him to be a very pleasant, efficient and experienced technician. He prepped the area and covered the carpet and set about his work. He explained the procedure and answered my incessant questions and I left him to it. He cleared away the dead wood, reinforced the cavity wall with a neat brick laying job, drilled holes and injected the biocide, and finished off by spraying the remaining exposed walls. The job was completed to my satisfaction and the area left in a tidier state than it was originally. I have no hesitation in recommending Richardson & Starling to anyone who requires this type of service.

Richardson and Starling have just completed work on some rising damp in our stone build house. given the nature of the work required we were dreading it! we need not have worried, the disruption was minimal, the men left each day with site clean and tidy. Ian Souter who carried out the removal of plaster and fitting of the damp proof membrane did a tidy job, protecting the floor surfaces and clearing up any mess. Jason the plasterer was a delight to have in your home, polite, careful and meticulous in his work. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for this type of work in their home.
