Thank you so very much to Barn Lodge Vets. The care our dog has received from your vets and wonderful team, from admin, nursing and vets has been excellent. Everyone has been so kind to us also as very worried owners. We cannot recommend them enough. Zoe and John Simpkin and little Edward

I recently visited the Ormskirk site for the first time as a brand new client, taking my new puppy for a health check. Though I should add i am not a first time dog owner. I chose the practice as an independent as the practice I've been to in the past has been bought out by one of the big companies. The vet I saw had the personality of a condescending potato. They did not introduce themselves at all during the consultation, either to me or my dog, but instead launched straight in to examining my 8 week old puppy. This should have been my first red flag.My puppy was extremely distressed with the way he was handled. I have no doubt that the whole waiting room heard him screaming, and I mean screaming, during his exam. The vet made no attempt to calm or comfort the puppy in any way. For a pups first solo visit to a vet I was left speechless at the lack of compassion shown, and the vets lack of any effort to make the pup feel more comfortable during a new experience with a complete stranger.Exposures for pups at this age are so important and I just hope that this awful experience will not have any lasting impact.I will definitely not be returning and would urge anyone to think twice before taking a new puppy there.

Austin and the team at Barn Lodge were absolutely fantastic. I had a bearded dragon who had some complex problems and they looked after him so well. All the staff were always professional and helpful but most importantly very caring and kind. I would highly recommend xx

I have been coming this vet for 12 years, the care they have shown my dog is second to none. Austin is one of the best vets I have ever known and has helped my dog get through some complex conditions that most could not since a pup. Amazing family run business, Elliot is excellent and so are all the nurses and staff. I could not recommend this vet more and there is no one else I would trust my dog with.

Going back a couple of months ago while out training Jack my working springer spaniel he went into some water to retrieve a ball and when he come out he had a really bad injury something presumably a glass bottle had gone right through the pad of his foot and also cut further up across his leg. The cut at the top of his leg had damaged his veins/artery the blood loss was unbelievable and I knew I only had minutes to get him to a vet. I live in Ormskirk but Barn Lodge is not my usual vet as I have only recently moved to the area. I phoned around a number of vets and managed to get hold of someone at Barn Lodge. They met me at the practice and opened up and performed surgery that saved my dogs life. Without Ausitin performing this surgery quickly I have no doubt that he would be dead. I have since been back for check ups and get the stitches removed and Jack made a fantastic recovery. Unfortunately today again while out training Jack injured the same leg but in a different place he went into some brambles on the edge of a field and cut his leg on some old terracotta waste pipe that someone had kindly dumped! Again I called Barn Lodge and managed to get an emergent appointment. Again it was Austin and his son who dealt with him they got him in right away and this time fortunately it was able to be stapled rather than having to have an operation and put under anaesthetic and kept in again. I can’t fault Austin and for me he has done a great job. The price I have paid for all the treatments has been more than fair. I really don’t have any complaints this review is just a way to say thanks as nothing worse than your dog needing medical care and you are left without it. These lads really pulled me out when I needed help with Jack. Thanks to all keep up the good work.Sean

My dog was misdiagnosed with a minor illness after being spayed, we got a second opinion elsewhere and she was in emergency life saving surgery the very next day. It's disgusting how many people are criticising people like myself who are speaking out about these issues, from what I've seen from other people's negative feedback, you're very lucky if you'd have a good experience here. There's a reason they removed the reviews tab from their Facebook page.(This is her in recovery at another veterinary hospital. They nearly lost her on the operating table. I honestly don't know how these practices haven't been shut down.)

We've been bringing our Family Pets here since August 1985, when it was owned by Mr Fitton. Amazing during this time, and under Austin's Ownership, to have witnessed the Practice grow and transform into what it is, Today. Cannot fault the Customer Service in any way, and our Pets have always received the optimum Care, regardless of which Veterinary Surgeon has performed the Consultation. Have never considered the Treatment Fees to be overly expensive.. From our Experience, I cannot recommend this Practice, and Austin and his Team, highly enough.

My little cat was hit by a car and I was able to have an appointment to have her seen. We feared the absolute worst but the vet was so gentle with her and despite being know as snappy kitty by my nephews, she didn't make a sound with him. He was so lovely. I was so grateful as we have no insurance and could not have afforded a big bill. She is now convalescing at home and I am so very grateful.
