Newport Rock - Shropshire Climbing Centre

Blooming marvellously awesome!!!Firstly, Doug was amazing with my 2 boy’s both under 7 and climbing everything mad. They can’t wait for the next kids climbing session with him and that’s all I could ever have hoped for, cheers dude and stay forever young!Secondly, what a transformation of the place!!! Fantastic amount of blood sweat and I guess beers have gone into the centre, we’ll definitely be climbing here as regularly as we can.Finally, I’ve just read the winter competition entry requirements “Just bring some dried food or tin’s which will be donated to Newport food bank” says, they care and why wouldn’t you want to climb here also

The safety standards are extremely high in this centre. The owners, Karl and Louise are very organised and very careful to see that children are made aware of the dangers they can face and ways to stay safe, such as not running or walking beneath someone who is climbing directly above you. Louise also does 'warm up' excercises with the children before they begin to climb to lessen the chances of injuries.The climbing centre has become so popular with our children that three dads asked to climb with them last time we visited! They too had a lovely time. The building might appear a bit shabby, but it is a training ground for REAL mountain climbing and as such cannot also be a beauty parlour! As well as a climbing area for adults and older children there is a toddlers' area upstairs where soft play equipment is provided for younger guests. The centre is not particularly easy to find if you don't know the area, as the council will not allow the owners to put out very prominent signs

Great community vibe, Doug is a sweetheart. Excellent place to climb whether you’re a pro or a beginner looking to learn off others.

I've been climbing for many years and visited many centres, this is always home. It's only a small centre but it packs a punch, with strong setting for all skill levels. It really will see you progress and the owners (Karl and Louise) will support you on this journey you take offering outdoor guiding trips too. They also have plenty of serious training gear which for a small centre is great! Friendly, fun and inspiring. Totally recommended if you are local to Stafford or Shropshire, as you won't find better for ropes, bouldering or just knowledge.

More bouldering than rock climbing, but my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the lessons. Staff are super friendly and helpful

Really enjoyed visiting Newport Rock whilst in the area visiting family for Christmas. Welcoming staff and a lovely mix of routes. Will definitely visit again when down next time. Thanks for having us! :)

Amazing place to go bouldering for any level or ability! Lots of variety and great routes for climbing

Great place for all experience levels!The new set up is brilliant, very clean and staff are very involved and helpful if you need it. Dress down in the summer and very warm in the winter as it is a classic climbing warehouse. Easy to understand routing system at a very accurate grade in my opinion with routes to cater for all levels of experience.They have a top rope section which is great for kids and learning basic climbing skills though the routes themselves won't challenge an experienced climber. Incredible for kids though!
