The Four Sisters Boats
I had the pleasure of staying on both of the boats available and both are absolutely gorgeous. So comfortable, and unique, without losing the atmosphere of being on the water. The staff were brilliant and went above and beyond to help me plan out my trip and answer all my questions about the boats, and even had fishing lines for the kids! Definitely will come again, was a really unique and fun experience

Unfortunately we would highly recommend that anyone with families to approach with caution and Do Not Book this.Due to the experience and what happened, awful experience overnight, we would not recommend this hotel due to the danger posed to our family. The issue is the location of the boat, this is open to the public with zero appropriate security protections in place. We suffered a break in during the middle of the night by drunk males which started with banging on the boat, followed by breaking in and attempting the doors. We got lucky as they ran off but in the event they had other ideas, our children and ourselves could have been in severe danger. This was a ‘near miss’.Unfortunately the management of the boat declined to fully refund the stay despite the above, which is simply disgraceful. The stress this has caused since with the danger we were all put in, and hours on the phone to the booking company and is simply not worth it.In addition to this, unfortunately the owner lied to us by saying this had never happened in 15years and yet her colleague who came to clean the boat discussed that it also happened to him and his friends. This could be very dangerous.Images of the location of the boat attached.Book with caution. This review is unfortunately factual events and is no form of slander.

Such a lovely stay at The Four Sisters Boatel. We wish we booked another night!Beds were so comfortable and the heating and heaters kept us toasty despite being the end of October. There was 4 adults and we felt we had enough room. Sitting room area was so cosy.

We had a three night stay on the Camilla. The boat was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The boat is perfectly located near the centre of Edinburgh. The bathroom is a decent size for a canal boat and it has a huge shower with piping hot water. If I had one negative to say about the boat it was the pumping system. The fresh water pump was extremely loud and would wake everyone up if you went to the toilet in the middle of the night, and you need to activate a pump when you take a shower or use the bathroom sink to discharge the grey water overboard. I am not sure why this system is fitted as an automatic bilge type pump with a float switch would be the answer, but the pumping system did not spoil our holiday, it was great!

The entire interior is decorated to a high standard with the colour theme of yellow and green running throughout the barge giving it a warmth and a feeling of easy flow from one room to the next. There are some homely touches such as cozy tartan blankets, bottled water, coffee table books on exploring Edinburgh and board games available to play.WiFi is available although 4g signal is strong too, and you can easily log onto Amazon and Netflix on the 43 inch plasma screen in the lounge or on one of the smaller TV’s available in two of the bedrooms. Everything is really easy to connect too, even Alexa listens to your commands!Camilla can sleep up to 8 people.Bedroom 1 - with 2 adult bunk bedsBedroom 2 - with a double bedMaster bedroom - with a king size bedLounge - double sleeper sofaWe tried out the Master bed and the Double. Both were extremely comfortable with luxurious cotton bedsheets and a mixture of pillows from soft to hard.Sleep came easy and this boat makes for a relaxing stay. I thought that with it being a boat, you’d feel the motion of the water, but I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between being on the water or on land. Luckily, we had a most calm night with no wind and no rain so the water was extremely still. All the better for a great nights sleep. The shower room and WC is so unexpected for a barge and was a large space. The shower is 5ft high and has loads of room. Very modern with complimentary toiletries. The shower is decent and you’ll get a great wash in here!It has a fully kitted out and well equipped kitchen with gas hob, oven, microwave and fridge. There are 3 eating areas on the boat- the breakfast bar in the kitchen, and outdoor decking seating and BBQ area which can host up to 8 people. You can arrange for a food and drink hamper to be delivered so that you have something for breakfast. I love that Natalie has fostered relationships with local food and drink businesses to bring the best of Scottish food and drink to your doorstep. Local suppliers include Edinburgh Butter Co, Puddledub Dry Cured Bacon, Corrie Mains Scottish Eggs, Mossgiel Organic Milk and Company Bakery Sourdough. These are some of the BEST suppliers in and around Edinburgh. This boatel caters for your every whim, from luxurious soft furnishings to the little added extras like fishing rods and wireless headphones.Camilla Boatel is a delight. You honestly would never know that you were in the middle of city, but instead bobbing along some quiet meandering canal in the countryside.

So unique. Really comfortable we were a group of 5 and enjoyed the shared spaces to get together and catch up. A toaster would have been handy as toast cooked in the oven on the grill setting. Everything you would need is there. Lovely owners and great communication. I would recommend a stay here 10/10.

Our stay was delightful. Truly a unique experience. Natalie, our host, was most helpful and informative. Do be sure to read the descriptions of the boats before you book. The accommodations are described in detail, so if you don't mind a narrow galley and tiny bathroom - this is the place for you. The beds were awesome and the living room cozy. We also opted for one of the breakfast hampers and I truly enjoyed cooking breakfast, haggis & blood pudding included, for our crew of 4.

Unusual accommodation which is centrally located. Definitely need to be fairly agile to squeeze into some of the space but it's beautifully fitted out and the breakfast hamper was very generous.

I've stayed on the Four Sisters Boatel on several occasions over a few years - it's for sure our favourite place to stay when we're in Edinburgh. We can bring our dog with us which makes the stay even better. The boat is immaculate and the owner, Natalie, is so friendly and helpful - nothing seems too much trouble. She explains everything in the boat before she leaves but is always just a phone call away if you have any questions. The location of the boat is ideal for exploring the city. There are no bars immediately in the vicinity so it's very peaceful, but there's pubs a short walk away if you fancy a tipple! 5* for sure, we can't wait to stay again!
