Hertz Car Hire - Cambridge - Clifton Road Industrial Estate

Giving 1 as I cannot give 0. Do NOT rent a car here. Staff are incredibly rude, and I was charged £90 for what looks like wheel corrosion - no scratch, no dent, nothing that should qualify as damage or that I could possibly have done. The customer service around the damage was appalling - rude and uncooperative, and they insisted I pay or send the bailiffs and my credit rating would be affected. No investigation was done despite the salesperson admitting he was no damage expert and that the car would be reviewed by the damage expert. No visit to the car was made, and they could not provide proof of damage repair. I can only imagine they are going bankrupt and do not care about their clients and are cashing in as much as they can in the short term. Around the corner in Cambridge is Enterprise Car Hire, who I usually use - they are amazingly friendly and fair. The difference is incredible. Hertz Hurts - do not use them.

Rented a van from Cambridge B&Q here goes the list of why you shouldn't hire their handy vans spread across town.1. Hired a Van for 1 hr at B&Q because it seems handy and I just needed to take some boards home 1 mile towards east Cambridge (Marleigh). The Key was missing so I spent 10 minutes looking for it and another 5 calling support and they said that the van doesn't need keys, but you always have to come out and put the pin otherwise it's a pain, (The mobile app did not work). (There was no indication that the van didn't need keys).2. The hired van had an empty fuel tank on the reserve, then I called the support and they said the previous person didn't fill it up, so I had to do it. Then I came home dropped my stuff and went to the closest petrol station which is BP, filled up with £30 and the fuel card didn't work, as apparently you can only fill it up at Shell. So I had to pay from my account. And they said they'd refund me. With this I lost 30 minutes of my hour just to get their stuff sorted... It seems I'm working for them within my hour slot.3. After completing the service completely stressed to get it in in time, Customer Support said they'd refund me the Fuel, but also said they will no longer do this, and this got me thinking, as the closest Shell Petrol station in Cambridge at rush hour is at least 30 minutes away from B&Q down to west side of Cambridge. If I went there I'd loose the hour I booked, just to fill the tank for them and perhaps I'd get charged extra to deliver the van later than booking finishing time... Utter non-sense.Never again and please stay away until they change their processes/policies... Don't feel tempted to use their vans just because they are sitting there conveniently.

Hired van for an hour, was driving back in traffic and was 10mins late and got charged double as a penalty. App keeps crashing.

The car was good but it was a really slow process to pick up and drop off the car. I had to wait around for almost an hour for checks to be complete.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE My experience (May 2022) mirrors those of many others: this is a scam operation based upon spurious claims (after returning the car) of scratches and other damage -- an email after the rental included photos that do not show any such thing, and the info sheet I got at time of pickup showed the scratches were already present. Luckily when I reported the scam to my credit card company they said they would investigate and not hold me liable if Hertz tries to charge me after the fact. Hertz main office has not responded to my complaint, of course. The people at this establishment are rude beyond belief (and incomprehensible as well). STAY AWAY FROM HERE.

This was a shifty place and I should have gone with enterprise. From the moment I walked in I heard the man who was serving me arguing over the phone with a costumer. Had to pay a £220 fuel deposit which I didn’t get all of back, despite filling up right before taking the car back and their system of getting the customer to look over the damage on the car before hand is a joke. When I arrived back he said I had caused a scratch on the rim which I did not and was going to try to change me for it tilI reminded him I had also got the optional extra insurance. They didn’t refund 70 pounds of my “ fuel deposit” DO NOT HIRE FROM HERTZ!

Worst Hertz experience ever. Took the car out and 15 minutes down the carriage way we got a flat tire puncture from a shallow pothole. The spare tire in the boot was completely flat so we had to get AA Roadside assistance which Hertz charged us. The tires on the vehicle were all less than 3mils and the paper work detailed they were all at 5 mils plus. Additionally Hertz told us they did not have another car and we would have to drive this one to the authorized tyre shop to get a new tire at our expense of course. Upon return there was a small scuff on the windscreen which was noted on the checkout paperwork but yes,Hertz charged us. The guy at the return tried to tell me we picked the car up at another Hertz, could not give me a final bill. Stay far away from this shop, they will try and rob you blind.

It’s take me a year to write this review as I was very upset at the time. As others have written before Hertz tried to charge me for a tiny scuff on the plastic cover on wing mirror which I had to take a photo of on my iPhone and enlarge to see. Am sure it was there when I picked up car but I would never have seen it. As soon as I called in my English sister in law who knows the Hertz crew at Stansted they backed off and said that as it was under 3mm they’d let me off. I’ll never use any Hertz anywhere in the world again.

Poor location a long walk from the station. Even if you fill out everything online the process of pickup and drop of at Hertz is slow and uses old technology.

We rented a car from here and ended up having a few issues and were not fully informed or misinformed which resulted in some headachesThankfully the employee there when we returned the vehicle was amazing and able to sort things out for us.
