Ellary Estate Cottages

Stayed at Lochead cottage in October. Lovely, very rural and secluded location among an abundance of wildlife. It's about a good 30mins drive to Lochgilphead for any shops or pubs. Cottage is beautiful on the outside although not the comfiest- very uncomfortable mattress and sofas. Found it bizarre to read that you had to clean at the end of the holiday ready for the next guests. I'm sure the estate owners aren't short of cash to pay for a cleaner....Plenty of garden space for the dogs. Perhaps they could invest in some decent sofas like the leather ones they have in the cottage next door. Wifi not the best but is what you expect due to the rural location. Not the cheapest place we've stayed and electricity is charged on top- the bill was nearly £100 for 2 weeks! Extortionate IMO!

Quiet, picturesque, turbine house is a cute cosy cottage for two. Big patio doors open up the whole kitchen diner making it feel alot bigger. Loads to see and do, Check walkhighlands.co.uk for lots of ideas

Stayed in Turbine Cottage. This used to have a turbine to supply power to the estate, it has been renovated to create a lovely wee cottage. Four big patio doors give access on to a veranda, grass all round and the sound of a small river. The grounds are full of wildlife, bee's buzzing, butterflies, birds, red squirrel. Very quiet, very peaceful. A short walk over the grass to the beach. Lovely, it was like your own garden.

Stunning location with rugged beauty. Lochead cottage was spotlessly clean with a large enclosed garden for the dogs to run. And the owners and employees on the estate could not have been more helpful and friendly. Can't wait to go back for Christmas.

My parents took me here for the 'Summer' holidays each year up until the age of 14 in the 1980's. I went back in 2000 with my wife. The place had changed quite a bit in regards to the Ellary House. No more Gladice, she was a character in her little red VW. Now there are no more cabins in the main house but the cottages and farm still open for stays (2001). We've been in the Garden's Cottage, Farmhouse and the cottage at the top of the field next to the gate. My fav was always the farmhouse. Gardens Cottage was dark but private. Farmhouse is a good layout and bright in the kitchen and cosy in the living room. You can fish off the rocks but this place is best with a boat (if you have one) to fish and explore the loch. the chalets they had down by the mouth of the river where quite small, perfect for a small family but the best is the cottages. I moved to the USA in 2001 and I very much miss this place. I carry Ellary in my heart and yearn to go back someday. Don't miss the midges though. :)

The most amazing place for a peaceful holiday. Great for kids to play safely and loads of wildlife to spot.
