Lunchtime menu. Food was terrible and there was very little on offer. Possibly the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.My partner and I complained to the manager and left after 15mins, only managing to eat half a plates worth of food each.Manager became very offended by complaint, saying the business had been open 20 years and that maybe I simply don't enjoy Chinese food. I do like Chinese food, I simply don't like poorly made food, regardless of cuisine.Paid for one meal and one drink (half total bill) and left.Avoid!

I must have eaten at a different restaurant to the other reviews unless it has greatly improved as I was very impressed. Great choice and the food was certainly not cold. The staff were rushed off their feet but I didn't find them at all rude. Would definitely go again.

Not a brilliant choice of food for a Friday evening, only two other tables with customers on, found an inch long metal (cardboard box) staple in the chocolate button desert jar, no management available to talk to and no one prepared to discuss our disappointment. There was no atmosphere. Will not be going again.

Much better tasting and quality of food than Riverbank - they go for quality over quantity, and they do better dishes, real deserts and my all time favourite - deep friend shredded crispy chilli beef!Only 4/5 as sometimes the dishes and deserts are inconsistent so sometimes, you can end up going and not having much there that you like.Their food isn't as good as a proper Chinese take away, but they seem to get better and better over the years, so I hope that one day, this place will be the ultimate buffet Chinese.

I feel like I have just eaten my own body weight in Chinese buffet for lunch and paid less than £7 for the privilege. You definitely get value for money and it all tasted very nice indeed. I will make sure I wear looser fitting clothing with an elasticated waist band next time.

This was by far the most disgusting Chinese I have ever had. I visited with high expectations as i have always liked the lucky star in the past, but now it has been refurbished (possibly taken over as all new staff) it is a place i will never visit again! As we got there customers were walking out complaining. The staff were rude and sighing at us for not booking. We then got seated at a very cramped table to discover how terrible the food was, most of it was cold and the rest just tasted horribly cheap and nasty. I had soggy chicken, salty noodles, slightly warmed up chicken wings that tasted like they had come out of a broken microwave and when a tray became empty we had to wait up to ten minutes for them to refill it. When I mentioned the quality of the food I was greeted by a very aggressive manager who didn't sympathise at all. As a previous loyal and frequent customer I will now NEVER return to the Lucky Star!

My friends and family always enjoyed going to the lucky star. I'd not been for a couple of years so took a friend of mine when we were on a shopping trip in Norwich. I noticed that the atmosphere seemed to be quite depressing. The staff rushed us to order our drinks. There wasn't a lot of choice of food, it was mostly noodles, and various chicken /curry dishes. When I sat down to eat, I noticed how flavourless and greasy all of the food was. A couple of mouth fulls in I realised that all of the food on my plate was cold. I asked my friend what she thought and she said the same thing.I went up to a member of staff there, saying how the food was cold. He replied ' it's a buffet, you shouldn't expect a la carte'. I said I don't expect a la carte at a buffet however I do expect for the food I eat to meet the minimum regulations of food safety. He clearly wasn't going to budge so I eventually left. I have to say that it was the most expensive, two mouth fulls of greasy flavourless and cold food that I have ever had the displeasure of tasting.I do not recommend this restaurant, the new owners are appalling. I will be reporting this food establishment to environmental health.

We had booked a table for 8. Admittedly it was a busy Friday, but we had booked it in advance. When we got there, there were not enough tables, so our party was split between 2 tables of 4. Given that a couple of people were going to be late, we were unable to have a proper social event as planned. And the staff did not like the fact that one of us kept switching tables between plates to try and socialise with everyone and frequently came over and disrupted our evening further. Food tasted ok, but we will probably not be going there again.

Having been here numerous times and enjoyed it we were totally disappointed on our last visit. Food was cold, selection was very limited but great if you like prawns and sea food. Not labelled clearly as all descriptions were huddled together so a bit of a guessing game. We went early evening so wasn't due to them getting ready to close???My rating is solely due to limited food choices. Staff, cleanliness and decor were faultless.
