The Highfield Hotel

Handy place to stay for what we needed. Very clean, very pleasant staff and fantastic restaurant. Ask for a room NOT,I,repeat NOT above where they deliver the beer.Some row.

A lovely hotel which is well situated for going into Sunderland, Newcastle, beamish and metrocentre. Plenty of parking and the hotel has a lovely restaurant attached to it. The staff were lovely and the hotel was nice and clean. We had a family room and it was nice and spacious. Breakfast is good and set's you up for your day ahead.

The Thai food served was excellent and I would certainly go again, but the service did spoil the visit. They get your order, serve the food, then dissappear. When they appear to serve someone else they do so with their heads down so you cannot get their attention. We wanted to pay after eventually getting the bill and in the end got up and waited by the till until someone arrived. Not good.

I absolutely love The Highfield Hotel – it's a perfect base for exploring the northeast. The rooms are clean and comfortable, offering a great stay. Nestled in the beautiful countryside between Sunderland and Durham, its location is a big plus. The staff is amazing, always ready to assist, and the food is consistently top-notch. I highly recommend trying the Star of Siam, the hotel's Asian restaurant – it's a culinary gem. I had the pleasure of staying here during a business trip and I must say, I was thoroughly satisfied with my experience. From the welcoming atmosphere to the great service, everything was just right. The Highfield Hotel truly offers a delightful blend of comfort, convenience, and exceptional dining, making it a top choice for anyone visiting the region.

rooms were a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Cost of accommodation was expensive £518 for two double rooms and breakfast. Staff were SO friendly and helpful...they definitely make the place somewhere I'd recommend and I would happily return to.

Stayed here last night in the twin room for an event in rainton arena close by (15 minute walk). I had a peek of my friends double room which was more modern and bigger.Can't fault this hotel was cheap and cheerful. Clean comfy and spacious room.Plenty of parking.Didn't eat in the restaurant or drink in bar but looked fab.Staff were friendly.Would definitely recommend :)

My second visit to this hotel and it didn't disappoint. Cosy, clean and quiet everything you'd want for a comfortable stay. Everyone very friendly and polite. Great location on the main road just outside Durham.
