Mercure Hatfield Oak Hotel

No air con in this hotel and only one window in my room opened the other being jammed shut, no maintenance person on duty. I was given a fan. Otherwise room very clean and comfortable. On arrival for our self service breakfast there were no free tables cleared from previous diners and no cups plates or cutlery had been replenished , breakfast consisted of an under cooked egg and cold bacon , sausages beans etc. Staff on duty that weekend {16/17 July 22} lacking in customer service skills

A hotel close to Hatfield on the A1000 looking a little tired with basic facilities more 80’s than contemporary. Limited polite staff were over worked and multi tasking. Guests were eating in the bar not the breakfast dining area. I had a large succulent pizza. The place is a warren of endless corridors and maintenance sadly lacking.The internal door handle into my room was on the floor and the dressing gown hook on my bathroom door stuck on with Sellotape!! I would describe it as one step up from a Premier Inn, and it is good value. On the plus side how ever, there was a very comfortable pocket sprung mattress and good heating and plentiful hot water. Now if you are observant notice one of my pet hates. I like a bath not a shower and if your hotel has one as was the case in this instance I like to have a nice soak, but what is making this difficult? This shortcoming in many hotels is the result of stupid planning. Look at the pictures, answer my question and then get the answer at the end of this review!ANSWERThe majority of people shower but as they are standing up you can dispense the soap at any height, so why the heck do they mount the dispenser so high because it’s totally unreachable when you are in the bath and if it was attached lower it would be accessible for both! it’s a ridiculous logistical error, if common sense can’t prevail provide individual soaps!! I addressed this issue with Premier Inns and they did reduce the dispenser height.

Had to wait a good 2 hours at the reception to check in due to system issues as soon we arrived. Quite a spacious standard room, but the heater in our room was not working. On top of that we encountered a massive spider in the bathroom early morning. Overall not a very good experience.

checked into this hotel last minute from Leeds the day before Liam Gallagher played at knebworth and did not enjoy my experience one bit.we where charged a lot for the room (without breakfast included) which wasn’t too much of a shock with the concerts going on.We went to get a hot chocolate from the bar however it took us 15 minutes to be seen for the bartender to start making us coffees and when corrected made us half full hot chocolate and said they where out of the flake topping despite being charged for it.The hotel room it’s self wasn’t two bad bearable for the night however the corridors and stairs had a strange smell which was of putting.The outside of this hotel and reception looks nice however overall I will definitely not be returning.

Made an reservation online, the pictures made it seem better then it actually is. These place was very disappointing. The staff at the front desk seemed nice but not attentive to the hotel as the lobby was filthy. When they walked us to the room the hallways smelled of mold and water damage. As we walked through several corridors the smell got stronger. The rooms were big but again not clean. We decided to stay at the Holiday Inn express instead. We are hoping for a refund.

Had to change room 3 times as the heating didn't work. An oil filled radiator isn't good enough especially in this cold weather.Got a free drink because of this, should have been 2 drinks as there was 2 of us. Could do better!

Friday night murder mystery event was great whilst enjoying a three course dinner. From reception staff to bar and dining, great service. Clean room, firm bed, good breakfast, cannot fault anything. Just what you expect when you want to getaway for a night with your partner and be pampered

Outstanding stay room was massive and unbelievably comfy beds. very hot showers with really nice smelling shampoos. evening meals are mouth watering and deserts even better definitely worth the price and the staff are very welcoming. Will definitely be coming back qgain definitely should be a 5 star Hotel not a 3. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Room was spacious, comfortable large bed,powerful shower,good blackout curtains. Could do with a fridge,air conditioning would be nice,ordered towels at reception which never arrived, no information at all re meal times,housekeeping, health and safety (fire routes).Breakfast was excellent, evening meal was slow to arrive being short staffed, food was well presented but of cheap quality.Parking was not a problem, staff were all polite.
