Lovely buildings with character. Excellent service from a helpful manager with unusually good attention to detail. The rooms were large by UK standards, small by USA standards. Very clean, with a nice shower.While there was no air conditioning, there was a powerful fan, and let's be honest, it is England, so the weather rarely is warm.It is a 20-minute walk, but a beautiful one, to Magdalen college. I am 40, short, and fat, and I found the walk effortless and refreshing, with pretty buildings to look at.The breakfast was included with a large array of options, from the light and healthy to a traditional full English breakfast.Overall, a lovely experience.

What a lovely find. Walking distance into Oxford central or buses nearby. Room is a decent size for the price, and cleaned every day. Wifi works well enough, with a reliable enough connection to work from the hotel. Staff very helpful - a couple of small issues sorted without any problem. Hot breakfast every day has been lovely. Overall an enjoyable stay

Very good amenities in the hotel. The gentleman at the reception (and also serving the breakfast next morning) was very friendly, courteous and helpful.The rooms and bathrooms were very spacious. All equipment was new. We couldnt have asked for anything more. Too bad we stayed only overnight at the place.

Disappointing stay. The thing that stood out the most is the noisy pipes which kept us up throughout the night. The receptionist (or whoever he was) didn’t seem too bothered about it, which is odd because surely loud noises that keep you up all night is exactly what you don’t want for your customers? I feel bad for the next person who stays in our room. We won’t be back.

Adorable little hotel very near some nice shops and on the bus line to the center of Oxford. Clean, quiet, inexpensive, great hot breakfast included, and management was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Loved it, after a long journey from Leeds it was great to see a large well laid out car park, which even though we were one of the last guests to arrive had enough room to park easily. Easy, friendly check in. Lovely room @ very good price for Oxford, and fab breakfast. Was able to leave car there all day & caught bus in & walked back, both easy as location so near to the centre.

I don't usually write negative reviews, but this place nearly ruined the entire trip. Two of the only expectations I had from this place was that it was clean, and quiet enough to sleep in. It was clean. The *entire* night from 12:15am to around 7am, there was a sound, no dissimilar to someone knocking on metal, loud enough to be a door knock. I have stayed in 12 bed dorms that were easier to have a good night's rest in. The bed was creaky, with a very tired mattress and bowed in the centre. The walls are thin enough to hear next door's gurgling snores. I was furious (and bloody exhausted) but was told we have a big building

This is a well run, conveniently situated guest house, close to the city centre (10 minute round trip bus trip costing £2.50 round trip) The Balkan Lodge provided excellent service, polite and efficient staff and was spotlessly clean throughout.Breakfast was top notch and plentiful, served with a smile, in a very pleasant dining room/small function . Full and continental included in the price of your hotel stay.Our twin room was OK but very cramped on space. Would have made a perfect single or double with just the one bed, but with two singles, it was a squeeze. There were also no windows except an odd skylight way up in the roof that came through a hole in the ceiling. If you suffer from claustrophobia, don't take room 6The price was a little high, for a guest house, at £85.00 but, we accepted that close to Christmas, accommodation prices are always inflated.Yes I would stay again, but not if something like Premier Inn came out at the same money.

Free parking at rear. The receptionist was polite and helpful. The room (10) was clean and comfortable, although the bathroom window was locked shut. There is complimentary WiFi in all areas. I would have given 5 stars if it had not been for the Fire Doors being wedged open, although a label on them clearly stated to keep them shut.

Best deal in Oxford. This hotel was clean and nice. The owner is there and runs the hotel. He does a great job. It is on an easy bus route to city center. The breakfast is awsome. The location is good and safe. There is a market within 3 min walk.
