Tiso Aviemore Outdoor Experience

Many thanks to Dave in the workshop who fixed my bikes broken spoke and buckled wheel. We made it to John O’Groats after all.

Tiso has helped me several times during my stay in Aviemore. I came to ride my MTB in snow for the first time, and I had a couple gear issues they were able to resolve with their vast knowledge. Multiple staff are experienced cyclists.The experience I had that sets Tiso apart from other stores is when I came in looking for boots. Chantal (I hope I got you name right!) was incredible. Outdoor people with know how challenging and stressful it is fitting boots, and she made it seem so simple. I'd give this place six stars if I could just because of this.

This review is for the cafe....We waited, patiently, to be seated. There were three other groups behind us in the queue........ We were ignored as they were served. Another group, despite being asked to wait, decided to take a table......... Only to have their order taken........ While we were still being ignored.I spoke to the waitress and we left.

Fab service from Callum who helped me find a pair of trail walking shoes to replace my Salomons. Friendly, easy to chat to and knowledgeable. Good variety of brands available as well and I'm away happy to try out my new La Sportivas. Thanks!

Cafe Review: While the Cafe looks nice enough at a glance the service was lacking on my last visit. I had to clear a table which was very grubby (as were many others) for somewhere to sit, while the servers looked on and didn't help. There was no menu at the table or table service. The sign above the till said find a seat and order at the till which was a bit confusing as it wasn't easy to see. Most of the food was in a glass fridge described with white writing which was difficult to read and baked potatoes were also served shown on a board. I ordered two baked potatoes which arrived quickly due to them clearly being prepared in advance. This would be fine if it weren't for the baked potatoes being near cold on arrival due to the topping being cold and the potato luke warm. The water was served in a glass water butt and glasses provided for that didn't seem clean either, there were bits of food on the glasses. The bakes were passable but not tasty or worth the price. A more clean and efficient experience needed where the food reflects its pricetag.

Had a problem with a Thermarest mat bought elsewhere, called their helpful warrenty department and they sent me to Tiso for a replacement. The staff at the store were incredibly friendly and helpful, even though this wasn't the normal way exchanges are done! They spent time on the phone to Thermarest and organised a replacement mat so I can sleep well for the rest of my journey. Thanks so much everyone at Tiso!

Just spent £10.70 for two coffees (one black & tasteless) & one inedible soggy reheated cheese & ham croissant. As if that wasn’t bad enough I had to wait at least 20 minutes at which point I had to chase up the food. Staff completely indifferent with no sense of urgency or customer service. If the cafe can’t be run efficiently with a welcome smile at very least, it should be closed. YOUR STAFF NEED TRAINING PROPERLY.

My wife and I recently made an appointment to buy ski boots and get them professionally fitted. We were taken care of by Sarah who was excellent, she was friendly, patient and really knows her stuff. If you’re looking to get some quality ski gear, fitted and to get top professional advice ask for Sarah and you’ll be in safe and trustworthy hands. Bring on the snow ❄️

Thank you to Robert for advice, letting me try on walking shoes and boots until I found the right pair. He spent a lot of time helping me which is greatly appreciated.

Fab shop. Good choice of outdoor gear and clothing and something for every budget. Often end up buying something that I didn't know I 'needed' Cafe upstairs is worth a visit too, with everything from burgers, soups and cakes covered. Dog friendly.
