What was the name of the service?11am Sunday Mass - Trinity SundayHow full was the building?30-40% full, about 100 peopleDid anyone welcome you personally?NoWas your pew comfortable?Standard wooden pew, but only 1 hour service so good enoughHow would you describe the pre-service atmosphere? Some choir and organ practice, otherwise quiet and prayerfulWhat were the exact opening words of the service? We forgot to note them down – we think it may have been ‘May the peace of the Lord be with you’What books did the congregation use during the service?A service sheetWhat musical instruments were played?OrganDid anything distract you?NothingWas the worship stiff-upper-lip, happy clappy, or what?Beautifully Catholic in every way - at times, latin flavoured.Exactly how long was the sermon?6m41sOn a scale of 1-10, how good was the preacher? We gave him 4, 4, and 1.In a nutshell, what was the sermon about? The trinity, kind of. The priest summarised the readings and said something vague and instantly forgettable about the trinity.Which part of the service was like being in heaven? The choir singingAnd which part was like being in... er... the other place?NothingWhat happened when you hung around after the service looking lost?We exited and was greeted by the priest outsideHow would you describe the after-service coffee?Alas, there was no coffee. How would you feel about making another visit (where 10 = ecstatic, 0 = terminal)? Our scores were 1, 6, and 8Did the service make you feel glad to be a Christian?Yes, thrice. What one thing will you remember about all this in seven days' time ?The choir.Final thoughts: This is a wonderful Catholic Church connected with the University and run by Jesuits. The building is a masterpiece and is well attended on Sunday and throughout the week. Recommended.

A real must when visiting Manchester. A beautiful church, with a peacefulness amid the bustle of the City.

It's a beautiful church ! Peaceful and a place to refect it was our family place of worship for many years going back to my parents and grandparents times and still Is for myself and family . my only wish is the church is open more often as it use to be ! I can remember the days when the church was open all day !! in the old days for anyone to drop in and pray or just sit and be at peace with ones self!but iam glad we still have it and still remains open to worship .

This church is referenced quite comically in The Smiths song “Vicar in a Tutu” from the Queen is Dead album recorded in circa 1985.It is a stunning building inside and out..Holy Name Church Manchester. ... A wonderful place to worship. A vibrant and enthusiastic youth population as well as a devout community of worshippers led a group of Jesuit priests doing what they know best- delivering spiritually enriching sermons.

Holy Name Church
This church has a great Sunday mass with (unusually) a late 7pm option. The atmosphere is peaceful, the priest inciteful, a nice choir and orchestra. It is church close to Manchester university - so the congregation are generally quite young. The church organizes many events and gatherings. If you are in Manchester - a definite church to visit and attend a service at.

This church is Grade I listed and is largest church in Manchester. Amazing architecture, stained glass windows, tower 185ft height, altars and number of an unusual statues of saints. Very impressive place.
