Optegra - Laser Eye Surgery & Cataract Surgery Yorkshire

I have had 2 cataract operations at Optegra Hospital Harrogate Road Bradford. On each occasion, I was highly satisfied with the outcome of the operations, which have been totally successful. Throughout the whole process, the staff at the hospital were friendly, efficient and most competent. The surgical procedure was fully explained by the Consultant Mr Ball and carried out in an exemplary manner, speedily and without pain of any kind. My thanks are due to all the personnel at Optegra

Avoid if you care about your eyesightI have been in a lot of pain since having a cataract operation and asked for advice from the Optegra clinicThey said excruciating pain it is to be expected.They admitted giving incorrect advice regarding eye drops.Many months later am now still suffering pain and have worse vision than before the procedure

Initial free consultation at Yorkshire eye hospital 11/06/16 full tests including blood pressure eye scans all very efficient followed by a consultation with Mr Rehman, who is very professional explaining everything to me including his success rate, what he could do for my eyes and any pitfalls. He would do my left eye first. He decided on trifocal Toric lenses (my eyesight was pretty bad) these were special lenses for near, mid, and far distance and astigmatism and could take between 2 and 6 weeks for delivery, mine took the 6 weeks. His secretary Eileen, sent me a link to the pre-operative what to expect, she also gave me a bag containing 2 bottles of eye drops.I booked the dates for both eye operations appointments 4/08/16 and 16/08/16; I could pay 5 days before each operation.3/08/16 drops input into me eye ready for operation the next day4/08/16 operation left eye I was a very nervous patient and Mr Rehman had told me he would prescribe a sedative. All staff involved in the procedure were really friendly explaining everything to me from taking blood pressure to administering eye drops and local anaesthetic, to post op. full explanation by the nurse when she gave me more drops and a sheet of instructions, and another email with a link to post op, must do and what not to do, Also mobile phone number and out of hours number in case of emergencies. The only discomfort I had was a gritty eye, a bit watery for about a week and light sensitive so wore my sunglasses. I didn’t require any pain killers nor did I have to use the local anaesthetic given to me in case of emergencies.16/08/16 check up on the left eye operation had gone well.16/08/16 right eye operation this went well like the 1st eye, but Mr Rehman said I had quite a bit of eye movement but nothing he couldn’t handle, Post op another bag of drops for my right eye and again informed of the instructions in case of emergency, drop requirements, 6 weeks of drops etc.25/08/16 check up on right eye, the operation had gone well I could see without glasses. I explained I was getting halos round bright lights, Mr Rehman said this should go. I then booked a further full check-up for mid-October. I then hope to report I have 20/20 vision.18/10/16 full eye check-up pleased to announce better than 20/20 vision wow knew it was good my prescription had been right eye +5.50, -1.75, 96, +2.50, left eye +7.50, -2.25, 60, +2.50 = result no need for glasses at all. The optometrist said that Mr Rehman had predicted what results he could achieve and the operation and lenses had exceeded in each eye and each distant by at least 1 if not 2I wish I could have afforded this procedure years ago £7000 is a lot of money thank goodness for George Osbourne’s pension freedoms.Would I recommend it to family and friends yes indeed and have already done so with the proviso check out any offers available.Mr Rehman and his team, all bar one, are very professional caring and friendly, putting me at ease before during and after my operations.Down side of the operation I seem to have some wrinkles that were hidden by my glasses lolMost of all the results to date have been better than I had expected or thought possible.Thank you Mr Rehman for my new eyes I am over the moon.

Had lens replacement 5 yrs ago, had my right eye done on the Wednesday , brilliant " went smoothly

Over six months has passed now and I must admit that choosing Optegra Eye Hospital was the best decision I have made. The team both in Leeds and Bradford was very professional and extremely helpful. Always ready to answer any question. Would definitely recommend the Eye Hospital.

If you are thinking of lens replacement with Optegra think long and hard before committing to it.I had both eyes done 3 years ago and have had nothing but trouble.The first 6 months after the op I was back and forth to Optegra with sore eyes and blurred vision.Night driving is impossible with the glare of headlights and street lights (this is called the halo effect)I paid nearly £7000 for this procedure.I went to see an optician in May out of desperation and was told I had frosting on the lens and was referred back to Optegra for treatment.I was told by Optegra it would cost £250 to see a consultant againOr wait on the nhs waiting list.I was told someone would be in touch within 6 weeks that was 16 weeks ago and I’ve heard nothing from them.ItI seems the after care is poor, once they have your money they are no bothered about you as a patient.

What can i say.......thoroughly professional from start to finish! Never a moments worry and everything explained in layman's terms to put oneself at total ease.Dr Rehman is a thoroughly decent man as well as a terrific surgeon...obviously! His sidekick (!) and secretary Eileen put up with me so she must be good!After wearing glasses/contacts for around 35 yrs, this replacement op has made me feel reborn!

Been going for two years now. The staff are very friendly and really put you at ease. My eyesight is alot better now and it's all down to them. Would highly recommend them and don't worry they will look after you.

Had my lens replacement surgery last year and it went extremely well, the staff were excellent and Mr Backhouse is brilliant, as he is very reassuring at every step of the procedure. Would definitely recommend Optegra Eye Hospital. It has been amazing to be able to get on with my life without the bother of glasses or contact lenses. J Bray
