I can highly recommend Helen as an English tutor. Helen is very professional patient and organised and also gives valuable feedback at the end of each session. My son is dyslexic and really struggled with all aspects of English. Helen recognised his weaker areas and understood that he found certain areas difficult and focused on them. I am confident that my son passed his GCSE English due to Helen’s sessions, this meant so much to us as if he hadn’t passed his GCSE English he would not have been able to attend the college he wanted to go to as they would not have accepted him.

Helen is an amazing tutor, she was able to extend our son's writing and comprehension skills successfully in Year 6, preparing him fully for the entrance exam to a private school.More recently she has been an enormous support with GCSE English giving detailed and expert guidance.I would highly recommend her lessons.

My son has had English tutoring with Helen from year 9 to the end of year 11 GCSE’s.His mind set towards English, from really hating it to working with it, has really changed.Within this time Helen supported us with his recent diagnosis of dyslexia, and has been able to teach him throughout his GCSE’s in a style that has really benefitted him. Helen supported my son with both Language and Literature, and he has successfully passed both, Language (6) and Literature (4) which without Helen would not have happened. Helen has been wonderful from start to finish with our sons English tuition. It wasn’t an easy challenge for her as he like many 15 yr old boys had zero interest at the beginning. Excellent standard and consistency of tutoring support throughout the year, expected grades exceeded.I can't speak highly enough of the contribution made by Helen which assisted my daughter to exceed her grade expectations and comfortably progress into college which was by no means a 'done deal'. Helen provided support with english subjects and in particular maths where quite a lot of work needed to be done, as well as some 'general assistance' with improving written responses for longer questions which improved grades in other subjects. I would highlight Helen adjusting her tutoring plans week-to-week to the immediate priorities as being particularly helpful. If homework wasn't done it was worked on in the next session, sticky difficult areas received more attention and assessing the pressure my daughter was under and adjusting homework and learning expectations accordingly across the year worked really well. Thankyou Helen everything you did very much appreciated.

Helen helped me so much with my English language and literature GCSEs (which I got a grade 9 and 8 in). She always set homework that was really beneficial, and I found going through my English work with her so useful because she helped me to see exactly what I needed to improve every time. This meant that I could understand where and why I lost any marks in exam questions. Through her lessons, it was easier for me to know how to revise and I was more motivated also. By having Helen as a tutor, it meant that I was always ahead of the class, and she also helped me to perfect my grammar skills (something which I think is not taught enough in schools). She is a lovely, patient and talented tutor, who I would really recommend for English tutoring.
