The Spice Club Indian Cookery School Birmingham

I just had a 1-2-1 cooking lesson with Monica and she is knowledgeable and passionate about Indian food and engaging. Monica made it easy for me to learn many new techniques including how to make authentic masala and panch phoron and introduced me to amchur, carom seeds and chaat masala. I cooked Punjabi samosas, shahi murgh makhani, channa masala, chapatis and Bengali tomato chutney. The food was fantastic with a little help from Monica of course! Highly recommended, thanks Monica.

Brilliant cooking experience with Monica cooking true authentic Indian food. Me and partner learned a lot. Great experience, and a great gift from my wife. Loved every moment and definitely will be back to learn some more amazing tasty dishes. So much so, i cooked for the family the day after and they now think i'm a professional! haha thanks Monica :) The class was intimate and was well paced. Can't wait for the next one!

I purchased the cookery class in Birmingham for myself and my mother and it was one of the best purchases we made. We attended the Biryani masterclass, and it certainly did not disappoint! We learnt tremendous amounts and the food we cooked was delicious. Monica was the best host! I booked the class almost 12 months before attending- and within this time i actually turned vegetarian, when attending the course i was happy to cook but not sample the food due to its being a lamb dish. At the end Monica prepared my own vegetarian meal so that i could join in with the evening feast! which was incredible!Monica was very welcoming and made us feel very at ease. We were greeted with a cardamon tea which was delicious. I would highly recommend! Thank you Spice Club!

My wife bought me this for a birthday present. I cook a lot of Indian food and have been to India and wasn't;t sure how much I'd learn. Well, I learned loads and it was done in a really friendly, entertaining way.We all cooked getting our hands dirty, by all helping different parts of the four courses (which we ended up eating for lunch at the end). Monica the Instructor made sure she did very little, so we were all gaining experience. The four courses (which were delicious!) were prepared in parallel, so time spent was informative and made easy. I can't wait to try these recipes at home soon.I was dropped off, but I think parking should be easy outside. It's a 10 minute walk from Moor Street station in Birmingham, I'll definitely be going to one of the other classes they do.

The 'Holy Grail' of curries it has to be the best, most original and authentic Indian cookery class any curry addict wanting to learn this cuisine could attend. Monica is a teacher in a class of her own. Being taught by an expert that delivers more than value for money, whilst showing you techniques to cook dishes you can enjoy for a lifetime, has just got to be applauded. It will exceed any and every expectation you may have, which is one thing I can absolutely guarantee you! I know why Monica hasn't written a book, she is a walking library that you've just got to visit. The best chicken curry I have ever tasted...

Monica's Mughlai Feast Dec 2023I recently attended an Indian cookery course led by the incredible Monica and her talented assistant, Andy. The Mughlai feast we prepared was nothing short of extraordinary, I attended with three friends for our Christmas do. We were all amazed by the quality of food we prepared, we are very average cooks and this showed how every detail was expertly guided. The experience was heightened by Monica's warmth and Andy's helpfulness. Doing this with three friends and others who booked on to the class added a delightful communal aspect. I highly recommend this course for an unforgettable culinary treat!

We had such a fun and memorable experience in the kitchen with Monica! The dishes were really fun to make, we learned so much about spices and Indian cooking techniques (it's not as difficult as I feared!) and we had a beautiful lunch at the end. Definitely a recommended experience! Book early because the classes are very popular!

I would definitely recommend attending one of Monica's courses. She immediately made us feel welcome and we had such a fun night learning how to cook authentic Kashmiri food - ending in an amazing feast! Can't wait to try our recipes out at home!
