Went last night such good vibes, great staff amazing dj. Really good night open late and didn’t have to pay to get in. Will defo be going again!!

Junior was amazing , such a great member of staff, he was so friendly and made the place feel great from the beginning. He also helped my friend get her phone back as she left it at the bar, and he made sure she got it back!! Love this place but junior made it so much better. Thank you<3

I recently visited The Star in Shoreditch with a group of friends for a gig, and unfortunately, the overall experience left us extremely dissatisfied, primarily due to the appallingly poor customer service we received. It wasn't surprising to witness this, considering the numerous bad reviews I can read, but it was still shocking to experience it firsthand.My friend has been accused of stealing a pint and although it was evident that the bartender had made a mistake (he only charged her for 1 pint), my friend sincerely apologized to resolve the situation. However, instead of acknowledging the misunderstanding and handling it professionally, the bartender was snarky and continued to accuse her even after she had apologized (and paid for it!).Dealing with customers is an integral part of the service industry, and it is essential to provide a welcoming and respectful environment for patrons. Regardless of any bad day the staff may be having, there is no excuse for treating customers with such disrespect and hostility.Considering the consistency of negative reviews and our personal experience, it leads me to believe that the management needs to take a serious look at their hiring process and training methods. A friendly and courteous staff can make or break the reputation of any establishment, and it is apparent that this pub is failing in this aspect.A part from that food was great.

So sorry guys...I spent many evenings in this venue when I used to live in Old street but there were 0 good vibes yesterday.The bartender had no customer service skills at all. She barley said one word. She definitely could not be bothered and was over it. It was actually awkward. My friend who arrived after me and headed to the bar mentioned the same thing.I got chips, and quite literally had to take them from under the heat lamp/pass myself... all a bit weird and awkward.(I'm a GM of a pub and would not DREAM of a customer doing this)The red sun canopy was also down for some reason even though it was a lovely day (not sunny, so it wasn't for shade) which made it a hot tent stinking of cigarettes.Hope it's better next time..

First time visiting, was there to see a selection of live bands in the basement bar. Only negative, the aircon was not working properly, so it felt like you were being boiled alive. But the bands were great and my friends and I had a good night.

On 25/08/2023, my jacket and umbrella disappeared between 2 am and 4 am. They were placed on a chair near the ladies' toilet. I'm uncertain whether they were stolen or if a staff member brought them inside. Unfortunately, the staff members couldn't provide details and asked me to return tomorrow. However, I have work to attend to and can't do so. I hope the general manager sees this review, checks the security cameras, and provides me with the necessary details.

The star in Shoreditch, great pub I popped in to by chance. Fantastic vibe, smoking area with seating and a nice view to boot. Had the absolute pleasure of chatting to and being served by one of the barmen Billy. He was welcoming and warm, everything you'd want in a barman.
