If visiting Southampton on a cruise liner you must stop at this pub. Loads of history and a very nice setting for a beer or two. Henry 2nd liked it too.

An amazing experience in a pub steeped in history and clearly one which values its history. We had a great meal there of fish and chips and bangers and mash. Portions were large and the food excellent. The barmaid was friendly and managed a busy workload very well.

Went for a trip to home town today, a history reminder of Southampton. This beautiful old public house has so much history. The staff were so happy and helpful, polite and funny. The food was good quality and reasonably priced. A clean friendly place to go. Bar billiard's table upstairs and a lovely parrot called Molly. If your in Southampton and want history and atmosphere visit this old pub.

The outside doesn't really give you a clue to the inside... It seems really small as you walk through the door but then it opens up to the ceiling, quite incredible and completely unexpectedIt has more of medieval hall vibe than a pubIt has a large open fireplace at one end, above there are 3 knights in armour.... Exposed beams and lots of original details...It's dark and atmospheric.... I loved it, just didn't expect itWe didn't eat here but the food looked amazing

A blast from the past for me.Revisiting my birth city from Australia.School group lunch reunion.Drinking warm English beer and their excellent Steak and Ale pie with definitely fresh veggies, none of this boil in a bag stuff.

A beautifully typical local pub! Good drinks at really good prices, everyone seemed to know everyone else, the service was friendly, and the food was excellent. We made several friends over the course of a few hours one evening. The clientale were also friendly and took an interest in us because we were from elsewhere. It was just an overall wonderful time and we are definitely going back!

A unique pub full of history and excellent food. The beer is well kept. A few 'local characters there.My only criticism is that I'd like my egg yolks runny next time please.

Old school pub on the outskirts of Winchester with a beer garden. Nice array of options, especially for me as a vegan. Had the vegan roast, which was a pie (not just a pastry lid), which was very tasty, and lovely rich gravy. Pleasant staff and big portions. Very dog friendly too!

The best roast dinner in Southampton by far. My husband loves the chicken and ribs, if you are a big eater this is the place for you. Food is outstanding.
