Small shop selling the basics, we never had a problem getting anything we wanted out of the 2 week honeymoon stay. Everything we went in there for they had, a few empty shelves and reasonably priced for one of the few shops around gairloch so can't complain.

Staff member was very rude! We went in to buy some wine at 11:10am to take to my father in laws for Sunday lunch and was told that we can’t buy alcohol until 12:30! The law is from 10am 7 days a week! He was very rude! We wanted to buy other items but he just walked off and didn’t come to serve us. Really poor service.

Possibly the rudest staff member I have ever encountered in any shop, anywhere…and I’ve travelled to more than 40 countries. This woman was so offensive I can only assume it was some deliberate attempt at becoming infamous for being the most obnoxious shop assistant in Scotland, no doubt hoping to qualify for the national and European championships.Parisian waiters will tremble before her sneering contempt for people who actually want to buy things in her shop… German officials will admit defeat at her physical mastery as she literally blocks aisles and shelves… Italian baristas will sing of their admiration for her casual indifference. As soon as we entered the shop this woman first demanded to push past one of my friends, then went and stood immediately in front of where another of our group was looking at a shelf. Until you have seen someone aggressively stack a shelf you would never have thought groceries could be so threatening. Most of them left the shop without making purchases - tails between their legs, knowing know that to step into McColl’s Gairloch on a Sunday morning is not to be undertaken by anyone but the desperate and deluded. But, fool that I am, I failed to realise I was now alone - isolated like a stray herd member and ready to fall prey to the Highland Wolf.My undoing was to trip over a set of plastic trays which had been left in the aisle. A soft southern shopkeeper might have apologised for leaving things where customers might fall over them but spurious health and safety is for the weak and feeble-minded. Out flashed her talons “Maybe that’s why you shouldn’t wear glasses inside.” Fatally wounded I tried to point out that glasses are in many places considered an aid to sight, and even lightly tinted (photochromic) lenses were better than impaired vision, but I may as well have been a lamb pleading with a lion. Humbled, I waited while she reset the trap… err, replaced the trays I had so thoughtlessly disturbed, before leaving in disgrace.I urge any unwary folk who may venture into this lair, disguised as a small supermarket, to beware. Only those in full possession of 20-20 vision, with nimble feet and extraordinary senses of spatial awareness will come out unscathed.

A village shop and you expect to pay a little more for items but when you pick a 4 pack of beer and they scan every can separate and charged more than double the price , very bad ! It's like buying a multi pack of crisps and being charged for every pack ! I will be taking this up with trading standards and also emailing McCall's head office.

Rather poorly stocked shop with very little variety. The staff, however, were so helpful. Especially a lady called June who, when I asked for coffee filters - no ground coffee never mind filters in stock - offered to bring some from her house next day.We managed to get some in Poolewe but sadly, due to a very poor mobile signal, could not phone to let her know and thank her. Please let her know how much we appreciated her kindness and help. She definitely went the extra mile.

This shop sold out of date salmon steaks. Unfortunately, we did not notice until home, over half an hours drive away. When we telephoned, there was no attempt to apologise and no attempt to be helpful, despite the fact that with modern stock tracking they could easily have verified our complaint. We offered the bar code etc.

Really disappointed with this shopping experience. Most of the shelves looked empty , and the fresh salad and vegetables where of very poor quality. As it’s only one of the main shops in the area Morrisons really need to upgrade their service here
