Bob & Berts Carlisle
An open space, with a variety of food and drinks on the menu. Good for breakfast, lunch or even just to pop by for a warm drink and slice of cake. I felt this place offered something for everyone, from the menu and the atmosphere.I particularly like their opening hours; for breakfast or stopping by to grab a coffee is great as it opens early enough for workers and stays open later than other cafes in town, thus providing that evening coffee and snack.

Bob's & Bert's is a reasonable eatery in the centre of Carlisle. We visited today, the food was OK. Nothing special, but just verging on expensive. I paid £8 for poached eggs, with bacon. Not good value. My husband had crushed avocado, it was heavy. It looked nice but honestly wasn't very tasty. Had a supposed large milkshake that cost £4.50. I'd hate to think what size a medium is. The service I felt was poor, if not rude at times. The place is kept very clean and is in a nice place but I wouldn't patronise the place again. It fails on several levels. Mainly service, price and value.

A good sized menu but lacking in areas…This was my second visit to Bob & Berts but first time having food.The menu is vast and there’s a range of things to choose from including paninis, burgers, hot dogs, loaded fries etc - the cakes look lovely but I haven’t tried any yet.I opted for the Bob’s Bull Dog which is just your standard hot dog with onions, mustard and ketchup, I asked for mine without mustard which was no issue.You get given a tray with a number sign on it and you walk off after paying, I can’t help but feel a little like I’m back in the school canteen.You then go and get your cutlery and condiments which is straight forward enough, then you find a table, again - no big deal, unless it’s busy then it can be a bit difficult!My table had a bit of mess on it (3 cups and a bottle) from previous guests, I couldn’t catch anyone to ask it to be tidied but a lady came over after about 5 minutes and took it away.The food didn’t take too long to come, maybe 7-10 minutes.The hot dog surprisingly had uncooked onions, I don’t know why but I was expecting fried onions which I feel would’ve been a bit nicer. The sausage itself was actually lovely, very moreish and full of flavour.The chips on the other hand were very disappointing, no flavour at all and required a full salt packet and plenty of ketchup to get any sort of taste from them - I’m glad they were included with my hot dog or I wouldn’t have been happy spending £3 on them separately.The music is very loud in here, at times it feels a bit like a night club!The staff are all very friendly and it’s clear that a lot of them enjoy their job which is nice, there was a lot of smiles and even some of the waitresses dancing to the music - it gave the place a fun feel.There’s lots of potential here and I’m willing to give the place a third try for something different to eat and to try one of the cakes.

My new favourite place for coffee and breakfast!There's a wonderful atmosphere and the staff are so great they almost feel like your friends! The food was absolutely perfect and delicious!The place looks lovely and clean with the staff doing great at keeping on top of clearing the tables.Fairly reasonably priced too but well worth every penny! I really enjoyed my visit and brunch and I would highly recommend it to anyone trying to decide which coffee shop to go to!

Loved it here, welly definitely come back!! Food was delicious! Eggs Benedict were perfect!We asked if we could sit outside with our 2 Collies, and they insisted we come inside because they're dog friendly and love dogs - that was really nice!Atmosphere is nice inside, very family-like feel.

3 people taking orders and only 1 working the coffee machine who badly needed a belt or better fitting uniform- the biggest let down as the foods ok and the coffee is nice is the filthy dirty tables .It makes you want to go get a cloth and wipe them yourself since the staff clearly aren't capable of doing it .....

Stopped off for lunch whilst visiting Carlisle. This venue immediately grabbed our attention as we walked past. Vibrant, colourful and very busy, we initially thought we wouldn't get a table but I'm really glad we tried. Service was great, atmosphere was fun and busy and the background music was just the right level. The pulled pork BBQ burger was delicious and the fries were spot on. Overall, a very good experience so a massive well done to the team on their service delivery and customer focus.

Love this place, fresh great price for food and its clean and modern. One of my new favs when in Carlisle if you haven't tried it do it. Loads of cool dishes and things to try and a pastry counter that will leave you coming back for more.

Went in for lunch with my sister whilst visiting Carlisle. Really nice food, lovely salads and coffees. The place was also very clean. Lots of options on the menu. Would definitely visit again!
