Had Neil come in last week to re-plaster our box room and master bedroom after a recommendation from a family member after he had re-plastered their entire kitchen. had a small hole in our master from a roof leak and our main concern was the presence of asbestos in the ceilings, Neil popped over gave us a very fair price for this. Was very impressed by the work that he has done So far. Will be getting him back for some other jobs. Very trustworthy. Was able to leave a key for him to let himself in a get on with the job and locked up when leaving.. No mess left. Respected my request of not letting our cats out. Very professional! Can't wait to get him in again

Avoid at all costs!- Took 3 months to 'complete' when agreed to 5 to 6 weeks completion.- Refused to redo a wall (refused to even come and look at it) where he clearly didn't put enough sand and cement layers on to meet the bottom of cornice. Re-done by another plasterer at my expense.- Last wall sand and cemented had barely any cement in and was just coming away in your hand when rubbed lightly, presumably he had run out of cement. All had to be hacked off and re-done by another plasterer at my expense.- Insisted on Friday payments and badgered twice a day every day if you didn't pay until the weekend.- Didn't put anything down to protect floors after repeatedly asking if he could do so, I even left plastic sheets but he didn't use them. Left bags of wet, unused plaster in bags on floors, which split and leaked all over it.- Lied about things like insulating window reveals, when opening them up (because an entire wall he did had to be redone) they were sporadically filled with expanding foam.- Paid him to put a loft hatch opening in but he used the wrong sized timbers (different sized timbers either side of the opening?!) and had to be redone causing damage to the ceiling.- Many 'Over-trowelled' walls needed extensive sanding to take paint.- Newly boarded ceiling doesn't line-up with staircase, going to be a nightmare to try and correct.- Scrim tape not used at many wall/ceiling junctions so huge cracks visible along ceiling lines.- I put a straight edge along some of the sand and cemented walls he did and I could literally get my entire index finger behind it - it was that bad! He claimed that straight walls weren't possible on old houses but the plasterer that re-plastered the wall got it perfectly flat. All the plasterers I've used want paying upfront or in weekly payments, which makes it difficult if it takes you a few weeks to notice problems and you've already paid. Absolutely no chance of getting them back to correct it. They all seem to start well and then stop turning up after a few weeks of good progress so you're locked in. Ask about 'Wickes Jobs' he's doing weekly as they won't be mentioned upfront but they're more important than your work. I just wish I could give zero stars.
