If you are thinking of taking up a new hobby, Mendez Marine is the place to learn how. I recently completed my RYA Powerboat Level 2 with them, it was fantastic! I have always had a keen interest in boating and by gaining this qualification and also completing my RYA VHF radio course, I now charter their ribs on a regular basis.

Mendez Marine is a long established, very professional marine motor boat training organisation. Nice people too!. The Chief Instructor, Julie Proudfoot is amazing and with her help I've recently completed my Cruising Instructor rating. We got into boating 5 years ago and both my husband and I had Mendez Marine recommended to us by several people when we were looking to do our PB2.We booked it, had a fantastic instructor who made the whole process thoroughly enjoyable and since then, frankly, we have never looked back.I've since gone on to do my Day Skipper practical and theory with them and am now in the throws of my Coastal Skipper theory. I've also done the Sea Survival with them and if you haven't done that...do it!! It's an invaluable course for sure and more than that, Mendez make it brilliant fun.They offer many courses aside from the above all of which are well worth considering.We have found Mendez Marine to be not just professional (which goes without saying) but their teaching style, knowledge and experience instils confidence.Perhaps above all, they make it fun.I can thoroughly recommend them whether you're just starting out or a seasoned boater wanting to further your skills.

I have just returned from a 4 day Day Skipper course.It was the most amazing experience in every way. As a female it was fantastic to have a female instructor and Julie was the best, very patient really good fun laid back but very professional, she had a unique way of teaching which made it both memorable and fun at the same time. I stayed on Motala, our training boat which further enhaced my experience, she was really cosy and very well equipped and I felt very much at home.The food on board was very good and all at Mendez Marine couldn't do enough.We had a great mixture of people on the course, we all got on fantastically and it was quite sad when we had to leave. I would return for the next level like a shot and I travelled from Cheshire.Absolutely loved it!! And I passed!! Thank you to you all.

Excellent Day Skipper Training with Mendez. The team are great, as was our instructor Hugh with a wealth of experience, easy teaching style and endless patience. Most enjoyable. Would definitely recommend Mendez. The lunch was fabulous too.

I did my RYA Day Skipper Motor Practical with Mendez Marine. The information prior to booking from Vanessa and Paul (the owners) both on the phone and email was very helpful when deciding what course to book. I did the “Day Skipper Level Theory PLUS” as this included the theory and navigation knowledge from the Day Skipper Theory needed for the RYA Day Skipper Motor Practical. Paul was my instructor, his calm personality really help calm me when learning new things. He had in-depth knowledge and was good at explaining both the theory and practical aspects. I Highly recommended Mendez Marine and can’t wait to do another course.

After a great afternoon following the coast from Weymouth toward lulworth we stopped for a snack and take in the view, decided to head on, that’s when the fun started. Engine stopped, wouldn’t restart, we were about a mile off a rocky shore with an incoming tide, we made contact with the coastguard but deep down feared the worst. Within minutes two boats came to our rescue and what do you know, four professionals Paul and Vanessa from Mendez Marine and their friends aboard Vitamin Sea.Towed us back all the way to Portland and all they accepted was our grateful thanks.Their calm professional approach was all “matter of fact” but we knew we were in safe hands from the minute we made radio contact.I think I need extra training and I know where I’ll be headingThanks againMike and Ali (Jurassic Lark)

Another great course at Mendez Marine! My second time back, the booking process was straight forward and easy, all questions I had were answered through the website and Jon replied to all emails quickly. Steve, the instructor, was excellent - thorough and very knowledgable. Boats are in great condition. And the location of the school is on possibly the best training area in the world. These guys just love boats and and being on the water!

I have just completed my Yachtmaster (Offshore) Sail to Power conversion course, preceded by a one day Boat Handling Skills course and then followed by the YM exam.I stayed on board and really enjoyed the week. I found the staff and instructors really helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.I learned a lot and developed skills that led to me passing the exam. I felt the course was reasonably priced for what was offered.I would have no hesitation in recommending Mendez Marine for anyone considering Yachtmaster Offshore; either Power or Conversion. A big thank you from me!
