The Dog House Rules

We'd only had our rescue dog Lenny for a week, when we realised we'd made a mistake, but by then we'd fallen in love with him and couldn't send him back. Lenny, a bull lurcher, was adorable with people, gentle, obedient and affectionate, but with other dogs he was a total psychopath and impossible to walk. Our nerves were in shreds by the time we found Stephen. He is vastly experienced and knowledegable, and we went from feeling hopeless to positive after just one session. Sessions can be online or in person, we did both, and every one was enjoyable and rewarding. And most importantly, Lenny has benefitted enormously.As well as being great value for money and a supreme professional - every email is promptly answered, every problem is explored in detail and a solution found - there is a palpable aura of confidence and calmness around Stephen, which permeates both owner and dog, and I'm extremely happy to recommend him to anyone.

We decided to contact Stephen after taking in a dog (Pepsi) which the previous owner, due to changes in personal circumstances, no longer had time for. We were told by the previous owner that Pepsi had some resource guarding issues which mainly involved his food. After researching various different people, we decided to contact Stephen due to his qualifications and his scientific, force-free methods. The initial consultation with Stephen was very positive and it was easy to see his dedication, enthusiasm and passion he has for helping people and their animals. We decided to take out the full package with Stephen due to Pepsi's resource guarding being a lot worse than what the previous owner had told us. The online sessions with Stephen worked very well, it meant that there was much more flexibility with when he could be available, and also means that the sessions can be done safely during the Covid-19 pandemic. Stephen goes above and beyond outside of the sessions too, answering emails with very detailed responses, it's clear to see how dedicated he is to helping and working with you. Overall a very positive experience and I would not hesitate to contact Stephen in the future.

We simply cannot recommend Stephen enough! He has helped us to transform our little rescue, Brannigan. Bran started out as a dog that lacked confidence and we as owners, struggled to read his body language. Stephen’s work with us was personalised for Bran and has given Bran the confidence to communicate his wants, something that is invaluable for us because Bran has to receive medication twice a day. It’s a testament to Stephen’s ability and care with dogs that we didn’t have much of a history with Bran due to him being a rescue and Stephen was still able to successfully work with Bran. He has transformed Bran and us as owners, his training is something we will carry with us.

I booked a block of sessions with Stephen for my nervous jumpy dog. He is very knowledgeable and helpful and always went the extra mile to find ways to help her. I would recommend Stephen to anyone, he’s very professional.
