Just returned from an overnight stay at a friend's Wedding , the location, staff, service and food were all excellent, the rooms however let the venue down, as are very dated and damp smelling, which for the cost, you would have expected more

Wedding party weekend--- really enjoyed it, BUT-- could do with a bit of upgrading now---( for prices charged) and no lift for 3floors-( I found stairs hard with a bad leg!! ). Lovely venue- lovely grounds- and really lovely staff. ❤️

We sat for sometime before going to the bar to ask for drinks, to be told ‘we will be over soon’. There was only one other couple in the restaurant at the time. It must have been the chefs night off as I was served raw salmon. I requested a soup spoon from three members of staff before one arrived. The ciabatta was burnt, I was told that some people like it like that, this was from the children’s menu. The staff had absolutely no idea of how to serve people or of the drinks/food available. No drinks menu, the staff didn’t know that there was a children’s menu on the website. The mains arrived before the starters. It was like being in an episode of Fawlty Towers. Only the lady supervisor had any idea of how to manage a restaurant. Other staff though polite and apologetic are desperately in need of training.

Didn't stay at the hotel just visited the golf shop. Very nice and helpful staff. The surroundings are beautiful and looks like a very well kept golf course

Excellent venue for a wedding or if you needed somewhere to stay overnight. The staff are incredibly helpful and professional but also nice as well which you don't find too often anymore. Highly recommended!

We booked for a couple get away deal during April. The food was delicious. The room was fantastic. Some of the servers let it down though. Just seemed unhappy to be there and not very friendly. Most of the staff were great and made up for the others.Absolutely brilliant atmosphere and fantastic deal. They also were more than happy to accommodate requests on food changes.

A spa day with afternoon was booked & planned for a very special day, 6 months in advance. The discussions of requests and importance of the day took place at the point of booking, and the day before. On arrival treatment times had been changed without discussion & no option to change. The treatments were lovely. The facilities are very good but outdated. The afternoon tea was awful. They did not honour their agreement. Repeatedly failed to honour it on the day and made decisions on assumptions. The service was awful, the seating area was dirty, the food was of poor quality.I did offer feedback via their email account, which offered no apology or reply I then followed this up and again no reply from the spa, or hotel. I then used the contact us form on the website site and still no response. What a way to treat customers who spent over two hundred pound for the hours spend there and have your day ruined. I would suggest that you find my details and contact me directly in place of popping in a none response or public apology which is not appropriate. I also hope that you do not do this to other customers moving forward.

I have tried hard to find something good to say about this place. It is an absolute dump and I say that with the greatest of honesty. On arrival you are taken in with the beautiful surroundings and the enormity of the building. You have very high expectations that fall flat very quickly. I arrived at reception and the lady who was on was nothing short of unhelpful. I booked into the Room and was given Room 3. I was advised that this was up various flights of winding stairs and I asked if there were no rooms lower. I was informed that there was not as they had a wedding on. Whilst I was doing my booking, a lovely lady came to the reception to pay her green fees. The receptionist turned away from me and began talking to her. The green fees lady actually suggested to her that she finish dealing with me first but she ignored this initially and I said it was fine and waited.I have a genetic heart condition and a bad knee so I was forced to stop three times on the way to the room to catch my breath. Once in the room, I had to take my GTN spray which I had not used within one year. I was angry, disappointed and exhausted. The room was allegedly a luxury room. It was mediocre at best. It was dirty, it was old and it was very tired. The pictures do not even begin to tell you how much this place needs a face lift. I thought I would go for a bath but I could not get the outside door to lock no matter what way I tried.I tried calling but no reply. I then was forced to walk back to reception and ask the lady to show me how to lock the room. She looked at me as if I was stupid telling me that she had shown me how to lock it. She reluctantly came up. I asked her again why people were not accommodated when they could not manage stairs. Her response was you booked a luxury room and that is where they are. THESE ARE NOT LUXURY ROOMS. The TV continually pixilated, the place was in need of a good clean and the only difference between this room and a standard room is that it had biscuits and a hairdryer. Yes I was moved the next night to a standard room with no biscuits and no hairdryer. The biscuits I could not have cared less about but seriously, no hairdryer. This is a basic in a hotel not a luxury and utterly ridiculous to come out of a shower and find you cannot dry your hair. Never assume they say !!On chatting with a lady at breakfast, she had a very similar experience as me with the receptionist. Sadly however their experience was much worse as they had been part of a wedding party and this hotel does not accommodate people with wheelchairs. I witnessed this first hand at breakfast when the dad struggled to organise the seats to manoeuvre the wheelchair and not a single staff member helped. There were two on the floor at the time.I was horrified to learn that the bride had been in tears as the hotel had placed her in the luxury rooms on the top floor and one of her bridal party could not get up to see her or join in the mornings event as she too was in a wheelchair. I can only imagine that on first look, this is every brides dream but to be shattered on the day and always remember your day for having to exclude a member of your bridal party because they have the audacity to be disabled!. Utterly shocking and the response she got was that the lady would have to wait at the bottom of the stairs until everyone else was ready.I cannot end without informing you of my budget room. Room 16. The first thing that struck me when I went out the door to reach this block of rooms was the smell. As I entered the corridor the damp, musky smell overwhelmed me. I opened the door and found a strong sweet smell as they had plugged in air fresheners to mask this awful dampness. I can assure you it did not and only left a sickly taste in your mouth. You may ask, why I did not leave. I tried but having paid hundreds of pounds for myself and colleague to stay, the hotel refused to refund me to allow me to go elsewhere.
