Clock & Barometer Shop

We have a Vienna regulator clock that had an intermittent fault that meant the clock would stop for no obvious reason. They took very considerable effort to locate the fault, repair it and then thoroughly check that it was genuinely fixed before returning it to us. Highly recommended.

Myself and my Dad took our mantle clock over to David's shop for advice/repair. He was very fair and honest and didn't want to rip us off. What a knowledgeable man. I would definitely recommend for all yr clock repairs.

We had a very battered and 'interesting' but long standing family clock which wasn't working and was in desperate need of repair and renovation. I cannot fault the level of work, service and dedication - it was incredible and despite everything our clock even now works! Delighted with the finished product and would recommend them everyday of the week.

I asked David for advice about a stick barometer which needed a new glass front and a small repair to some moulding. He said that it probably didn't need his attention, that I could without much difficulty buy some specially cut glass to fit myself and glue on the moulding. I did that, and the barometer is now looking really good. I appreciated David's professional advice.

Our c1800 Grandfather clock was getting very tired. We bought it in 1987 and over the decades the date dial had stopped working, the chimes had stopped and more recently, although it was still working it would occasionally stop and need a bit of coaxing. The mechanism was very dusty, greasy clogged up.I spoke to David (the business owner) and got sensible advice and an appointment to get an estimate was made. David explained how I should remove the clock from the case and transport it to his shop.He explained his suggested remedy and overhaul and that the clock would probably take 2/3 weeks and should be ready by Xmas.The weekend before Xmas I received a call from David to say the clock was ready and I collected it on the Tuesday.The price was reasonable and within the estimate given when I took the clock in to the shop for appraisal.David spent at least an hour (and an offer of a tea/coffee) showing me the clock working on the jig on his wall and explained how I should reassemble it and set it going including matching the number of chimes to the hour indicated. I was told I could phone for advice if I needed to. He gave me a box and put the clock in it with the chain and weights secured for transport.On Wednesday I put it back together and it immediately worked. The date dial, the chimes, the second hand all work perfectly and everything keeps perfect time.Thank you David for your attentive and skilled workmanship. It is obvious that you love what you do and it is much appreciated.

Went to see David yesterday with a Nelson‘s hat mantle clock and a carriage clock very helpful and informative. I felt that he really didn’t want to do the work that I asked of him and when I asked him to give me a quote for the carriage Clock, he quoted £500 which I thought was ridiculous so I took it home, along with my mantle clock and thought to myself, I will have a look at this took it apart and found that the hairspring mechanism was very tight. Loosened it up now works fine and re-soldier, the hand back on for afternoons work just put it out there.

Absolutely brilliant Service!My 30 year old cuckoo clock stopped working after being knocked off of the wall while we were moving furniture around.My Mother bought it for me before she passed and I was totally devastated thinking that it was now ruined and that I had lost it forever as a working clock! As well as the sentimentality aspect.It has now been repaired and cleaned, and is on my wall working better than ever before ( where it has been since before last Christmas ) thanks toBristol clocks and Barometers. No not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Our Mantle clock was restored brilliantly. Now runs and chimes as it always did. We were given sound advice and lots of instruction when we picked it up from the shop. Plus a come back if you have any problems " Thanks again Father was very pleased."

This is the second old clock we have taken to David to repair and both times he did an amazing job. This last clock was one my dad had build a case for and had also made a couple of repairs, both of which were over 65 years ago. It had stopped working completely and David checked it over, did a repair and also cleaned it, giving us advice on remounting as well. He also quietened the chime as our previous neighbour had said it was loud and she could hear it, so we had not had it going for the last 8 years of it's life. The cost was extremely reasonable and it means so much to me to have it working again, plus the chime. You can tell David gives each clock the love and care he would give his own.

I brought my grandfather clock to be repaired after it had been out of use for over a decade. It’s now working in perfect order thanks to this wonderful service. Excellent customer care and a genuine pleasure to learn from a real expert.
