The Stand Comedy Club
The comedians are always down to individual taste, and three of the four were very good. However, the venue itself was certainly not without issues. The main problem was the lack of seating. This has changed from previous years when if you had purchased a ticket (months in advance) then you would get a seat. This was a complaint amongst various fellow audience members expected to stand on a hard wooden floor for over two hours, if you want a seat then expect to queue outside from at least an hour before the show even starts. Unfortunately, this seems like the venue putting money before people's comfort and enjoyment - noticeably some older people who left early.

Relatively compact club so pays to get there early. Staff were excellent and helpful. Food was surprisingly good. Acts were decent, though that's always a matter of personal taste. The people seated near the stage were picked on (not unexpected in a comedy club) though the club's host was quite brutal at times. Club is well located and easy to find. Note that there are stairs down to the entrance.

Great evening with a very nice mix of performances, a talented host with great energy, and a great headliner too. The shows were fast paced and kept us hooked. Will definitely come back.

Excellent first visit to the stand on Saturday 16/12 with my wife. Everyone was so helpful from the moment we arrived until we left. The show was fantastic with all the different comedians. We will definitely return again. Great wee way to enjoy a night.

Beware! You may have to actually stand. Annoyingly me and my partner had to stand and at one point share a chair whilst at this venue. Although the acts were good this just put a down on the evening, they do let you no in a small section of their website but buy some extra chairs and make it comfortable. Charging 20 pound to stand while someone else gets to sit for the same price in my eyes is a con.

Great Experience. We went to a Christmas special and all the comedians were brilliant, the host Susie McCabe was absolutely hilarious.Really recommended

We came here due to an event of the hostel every Monday. Paid some 6 pound and were seated together close to the stage. Better be early for good seats. So yeah it was 1,5h. Two breaks after each half hour. And man I laughed. The host, Angus, always announced by a French speaker, was already a comedian. Super funny, lively and cool dude. And then we saw a variety of female, male, odd, normal, funny looking comedians. The last 30 min was only the main act of the night. All in all many tears of laughter. I laughed all the time. All acts were really funny. Hope some will become famous. So yeah Monday evening? Get yourself some laughter here it's worth it.

Fabulous basement comedy venue. Well stocked bar, friendly staff + loads of atmosphere & that is before the act comes on. I saw Marjolein Robertson who is a comedian/storyteller who was worth travelling all the way from Liverpool just to see. Top tip if you want a seat arrive early otherwise you may end up having to stand at The Stand to watch stand up comedy.
