I have nothing but positive feedback regarding St Albans Tennis Club. The best thing that our family have done is join. My son has been playing here for nearly 2 years, and has gone from strength to strength under Martin's positive and encouraging guidance. He has developed a love for tennis that will carry through well into the future.I hadn't played in over 20 years, bravely returning recently! I'm loving it - Martin and Nancey are very encouraging, and the group sessions that I attend are fantastic fun. This is a very family-orientated club. Under Martin's watchful eye, I find I'm always placed in an appropriate doubles match to ensure that I'm comfortable, enjoy myself and improve. So much available for all levels of player - join up!

Went for a inter club game. Was so impressed. Court quality was something else.. but the general standard of play was something else

St Albans Tennis Club is a very friendly and welcoming club. They have coaching, social tennis and leagues for all ages and abilities and are very inclusive. They are also tournaments and social events to get to know your fellow players off court as well as on. Both my son and I have been members for 4 years and I would thoroughly recommend.

Don't waste your time and money! Martin is mean and rude to parents and kids. My son didn't and CANNOT learning anything in one year according to him.Pros:Friendly young helpers all from secondary school.Easy to park and close to schools. The facility is OK although it only has out door courts.Cons:They relay on the littler helpers to coach the younger groups, and some times, younger kids don't know how to correct their positions.Slow progress, unless you coach your kids yourself at home. The main coach Martin is mean, sometimes rude and intimidating towards parents and kids.Poor structure, you do not know your level. The coach strongly believes you cannot progress with one hour a week. I totally disagree. I am a Computing teacher in a secondary school, and I teach one hour a week, and my kids learn a lot in my lessons. If you have time, you can read my story. My son who is now 8 joined his club last year in September, and he started playing with level 3" groups. Three months later

My son and I joined St Albans Tennis club at Christmas and have been really happy with our decision.Martin has bent over backwards to ensure my son has received the correct level of coaching for him, my son regularly tells me how much more he enjoys this club to his previous one and it’s very evident to see how much pleasure he now has playing. The coaches all manage to ensure a high level of coaching with a lot of fun, which for a 9year old is paramount.I’ve recently returned to tennis myself after a 30 year hiatus and have found Nancey, Martin and Ambrus to be excellent coaches and incredibly encouraging (despite having their work cut out for them!)I’ve started going to the Wednesday and Friday morning sessions and have found all the members to be really encouraging irrespective of my standard of play!Even my eldest son, who up until now, has refused to try Tennis, had a play last weekend and is now keen to have lessons.I would thoroughly recommend this club.

I have been playing tennis here since I was 4 or 5 (for 10 years now) and can honestly say that there has not been a moment where I have not enjoyed every bit of it. The lessons, group and private, are absolutely amazing with a great standard of coaching which helps people of every age improve in different aspects. There is a frienly environment at the club and it is welcoming to any players of any standard. The summer club tournaments are great and give adults and children the chance to gain experience in matches against other people their age. Also, there are matches against other clubs which allow you to I prove your rating and gain even more experience. I would strongly recommend this tennis club to anyone of any standard or age. It has helped me grow into a really confident and good tennis player, which I am sure they can do for anyone. There is an open day every year where anyone is welcome just to have a go at playing tennis. I would strongly recommend anyone to join this club.

St Albans Lawn Tennis club is a family friendly, active club that is well run and very inclusive and welcoming. My two sons play and I (a beginner!) have also started in one of the many friendly social mornings. My son has been part of more academy style tennis programs in the past and whilst these also have their place, we chose to come to a club that we could all join as a family and participate together. The junior section is very well run and most importantly the coaching team get to know the children well and are happy to give feedback on their development. We like the junior sections ethos which is to foster a love for the game by working hard whilst enjoying sessions with their friends and that through this they will develop into solid players. At the same time it is clear to see that the principles of good sportsmanship; respect for coaches and players, fair play and courtesy are being reinforced. Great club with a very active competition and social side too.

A very friendly sociable inclusive club with lots of competitions and sessions. The head coach, Martin runs a varied coaching programme to include all levels for both adults and children. My daughter aged 5 has lessons on a Saturday morning and she is really enjoying them, the structure is just the right combination so that boredom or “I can’t do this” does not kick in, as a result the enthusiasm is there, no mean feat for a fickle little person! And the joy of seeing her reaction when she hits the ball is amazin. As an adult, I have lessons with Nancy and join in with Martin’s sessions both, always fun and inclusive and they have made me feel very welcome in this family friendly club.

Fabulous club! As a family we are all thoroughly enjoying our tennis here and have been for several years. The junior programme headed by Martin and Nancey, has been a great hit with all of my children. We all started as complete beginners at various ages and have all made considerable progress whilst thoroughly enjoying the journey! I would highly recommend the club to anyone.
