The Greyhound
A lovely country pub attached to a cricket club. We loved the cosy atmosphere and rustic surroundings. A very friendly team ran it. It has very low beams and a lot of Toby jugs depicting differing characters. There are several pictures of the local area and various cricket teams. When the cricket team plays, you have to be careful where you park your car and signs are placed outside with warnings. We enjoyed afternoons drinking and eating on more than a few occasions when visiting the area. A nice experience.

Very undecided about this place but because the pub itself is gorgeous I shall return for another go.+Staff were friendly+ Chips were great-Salad was old - lettuce was very brown and shrivelled-Slow service considering the ratio of staff to guests was 10:2- Call me old fashioned but I don’t enjoy listening to the bar staff effing & blinding when talking to each other

We went to the greyhound for the first time recently for my partners birthday meal. We had such a fantastic experience, the food was 10/10 with the most amazing chips I’ve ever had, everything was freshly made to order and the hospitality was spot on. Evie was our our waitress and she was very attentive and helpful with a huge smile on her face. Andy was our chef and he was very welcoming with a great sense of humour, he went above and beyond and made us feel at home. The team at the greyhound made my partners birthday very special. I honestly can’t praise this place enough we will be back very soon I’m sure, such a hidden gem.

Absolutely incredible Sunday lunch today. The Yorkshire pudding was huge fluffy, the beef was perfectly cooked - medium which just melted in my mouth, it was so tender. Veg cooked perfectly just the right bite.Service was of a high standard from all staff both waiting and behind the bar.We love the fact they use the local dairy farms ice cream-great choice of flavours. We can't wait to come back again soon.

Excellent overnight pub stop for our motorhome, next to Tong Village Cricket Club, with superb food menu and really pleasant staff.Nearly forgot. It did Ruddles which I haven’t seen for ages.Would definitely recommend it. Messaged ahead on Facebook which worked really well.

Had lunch today with friends from Wakefield here, good half way point. My pan fried chicken was slightly overdone, others plates were fine. Main issue was lack of service at the bar. Completely unattended on each of the 4 times we went inside to order drinks. Had to go find someone. Guys, this is basic stuff, it's a pub, right? Needs sorting out.

Popped in for lunch. Lots of outside seating which was lovely, proper tables and chairs rather than picnic benches. The food came quite quickly and was tasty but I can only give 4 stars as I had the hot beef sandwich which, according to the menu, came with a jug of gravy. It didn't, it just had a sparse amount of gravy in the sandwich so I found it quite dry.Because the pub was busy I didn't go in and ask for the gravy as I thought my sandwich and chips would have gone cold by the time I got it. Shame as the food was nice.Would I come here again, yes, I would, I'd just know to make sure I had all I'd ordered the moment the food was brought out to us.

Visited with friends for a meal. Booked a table only to be contacted by the greyhound a few days before asking to change the booking to an hour earlier as the chef had something on. Arrived at the venue half the beers were off or not available. Ordered food and only had an hour to eat it as the chef was leaving and no time to order dessert. Food was average quality and disappointing. The only good thing about the evening/experience was the company we went with. Not worth visiting, very poor .

Staff were very pleasant and the food was amazing. Good size portion for decent price. Will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu

Late booking handled with ease. Service friendly and helpful. Food excellent. On this visit we had chicken club sandwich - loads of meat. Chicken and bacon club sandwich with egg - again, good portion of meat and tasty. Fish and chips, crispy batter and good quality chips. Recommend.
