With my walking trips to the natural wonders of the UK very much in it's infancy, I wasn't too sure what to expect when I booked a trip with DTE in Trawsfynydd, North Wales. What I experienced that weekend was stunning scenery, a charming host and a very cosy 'bothy'.Alec was a natural guide; he was very accommodating, proficiently indigenous and extremely patient!I will cherish this trip for the rest of my life and I will definitely book with DTE in the near distant future.

A M A Z I N G weekend walking and swimming in beautiful North Wales. Guided walks well off the beaten track so you barely see other walkers, which is remarkable in a national park.

I had the best time with Alec and Sioned recently! Both excellent guides who know their land inside out. We did hikes that pushed me and made me feel so adventurous. And then the swims! Five swims in two days! Overall we hiked one summit, swam three lakes, walked the length of a gorgeous river which we swam in and climbed up to a waterfall and dipped there too! Perfect

If you're looking for something a bit different to do on the weekend and fancy a break from the city, what a great experience this is. Alec was a gent of a host and made sure our whole party were incredibly well looked after throughout. The food was very well priced and delicious! The scenery in Wales speaks for itself but Alec's knowledge of the area and ability to speak Welsh is a massive plus and is a stand out feature compared to other companies i've seen offering similar experiences. I found the whole weekend very well planned and thought out but equally relaxed enough to not be limited to a strict timetable. This gave us the flexibility to make changes to suit us and get the most from our experience which Alec was very accomodating over. I would recommend to anyone interested in a weekend away from the big smoke

I was fortunate enough to partake in two DTE adventures last year. Firstly, the wild camping weekend in summer and the second a weekend stay in the bothy. Both trips were well thought out. The transport from London, the food (and drink!) and the all round good vibes. We received a list of items to bring before the trip to ensure we were also prepared. Tip* If you’re booking the wild camping weekend, ensure you have enough room in your backpack to allow space to carry food and drink for camping! The food was delicious (and nutritious), everyone was well fed the entire weekend. Alec was a fantastic leader throughout both trips, very laid back yet well informed, he also always ensured the group were comfortable and sufficiently energised. The hikes themselves were incredible. Not only do you have beautiful scenery, there’s also the option of hiking to historical areas such as disused mining towns - which I found fascinating. Capability wise, we had a range within our group but nothing was ever too hard. You’re guaranteed a great sleep afterwards! So, If you need some time to get out of the big bad city, reignite your love affair with the great Welsh outdoors and welcome some new wonderful people into your life- this is your chance. Thank you Al and DTE adventures, you have made me fall in love with nature even more and I can’t wait to do it again!

An incredible weekend full of loads of magical moments such as the sun coming out when we were swimming and the steam train passing as we walked. Sioned and Alec really delivered and ensured everyone was comfortable at all times. The locations we visited were all so beautiful! We swam in lakes, the sea and a forest waterfall. It was definitely worth having a local guide to go to places away from the crowds, share local stories from the Mabinogion and foraging tips. Their love for the area was contagious and I really appreciated their commitment to sustainability and local produce. Highly recommended!!!

As a fair-weather swimmer I did wonder if it was wise to book a wild swimming weekend in North Wales. In March. But I'm so glad I did. Our first day of hiking took us along stunning empty trails and into a very cold lake, before finishing off with a very cold sea swim. Back at the cosy cabin, a local chef complete with head torch appeared with a home-made Mexican feast, including home-pressed (!) corn tacos. Surely the best Mexican food in Wales. On Sunday, we walked a stunning river path with waterfalls and swimming spots. I learned so much from Sioned and Alec, from how to be a swimming badass, to sheep herding, and the simple joy of an old-school kettle. Will definitely be booking to come along again soon. Diolch DTE!

A great weekend in Snowdonia. Alec was a knowledgeable guide and we did two great walks with optional swims for those who wanted them. We had two great meals from local restaurants followed by board games back at the bunkhouse which had been renovated by Alec.

Alec is an excellent host and a great guide, a calming presence when hiking up the mountain ensuring no one is left behind. His local knowledge really adds to the experience as you gain an insight to the history of the local landscape. The food was great and accommodates for all, it was nice to spend a weekend away from the city leaving behind all distractions. (you still get signal if you need it, but i recommend going off grid).overall an excellent trip and one i will definitely be booking onto again. cannot recommend enough 10/10
