The Belsfield Hotel
A beautiful location for the Lakes. We stayed for three days and didn't use the car at all. Alternative transport made trips out very easy and more enjoyable. Our lake facing room was very comfortable although the bathroom was on the small side.Everyone was very pleasant and helpful but meals were a challenge (my husband is coeliac and therefore gluten free) We gave up eating in the restaurant after our first night as the staff found it difficult to convey gluten free options satisfactorily. Breakfast was very much the same with myself being given gluten free or my husband not receiving gluten free. It was quite disappointing and would have been lovely if someone could have explained what exactly was available to him and got his order right!Oh and don't expect a biscuit with your coffee.....it just doesn't and can't happen as it's a hotel for goodness sake!Other than that we had an enjoyable time. Thank you.

I would not recommend anyone to go there with any expectations, i went there to have me some simple afternoon pastries before i went on with my other reservations that i had made for that day. However, it took alot of time before someone showed us to our table and take our orders. And the waitress that looked after us looked oblivious and inexperienced. It took them almost two hours to make me a cup of coffee and even after all that they had still gotten our order wrong and tried to bill us for something we did not order. Not to mention that i specifically made a reservation in the afternoon for their afternoon tea menu but the waitress told us the hotel was hosting a wedding and the kitchen was too full. Knowing that on the day of at that time a wedding was being held i think they should have let us know earlier on rather than have us make a whole trip just to find out we cannot order food. I was willing to overlook everything given that a wedding was being held and they were likely not prepared -although they shouldve taken everything into consideration way ahead- however, the attitude that i had to face from the workers -specifically speaking about the bald guy- unfortunately made it impossible for me to visit this place again. They were extremely rude mannered even though we were more than quiet and understanding about the whole wedding situation they still treated us with disrespect and it did not occur to me that i will be ignored and disrespected like this when i made the reservation. I was really excited for the reservation i made but everything mentioned has ruined the day for me. Would not recommend this place to even my worst enemy.

We usually stay here, The hotel needs more maintenance but it’s understandable that the building dates back to the 1840’s.The staff is well-mannered and professional. The gorgeous views from the hotel are completely magical. Definitely would recommend it.The breakfast bouffant is very limited but they do offer a menu, would definitely recommend the breakfast, I’d like to thank the waiter, Mr. Ali.

Amazing gluten free lunch. Fish platter including crispy calamari. Fresh tasty gf bread. Fantastic views of garden and Lake Windermere. Friendly welcoming staff. Chef highly trained in dealing with food allergies. Comfortable seats in beautiful room. Highly recommend. I'd love to come back and stay at this hotel.

Booked for afternoon tea. Food was okay, service was lacking, staff quite dismissive, we asked for more tea and one of the wait staff told us to ask someone else.In addition, 2 weeks after our holiday we received a parking charge notice from a private company Smart Parking" who tried to issue £100 fine for parking in the car park at the Belsfield. We were not informed at any point that we had to register our car with reception. If you are going to use a dodgy private car parking company you should be really hot on informing customers that they need to register their car to avoid this stress.."

We stayed in one of the most expensive rooms four poster Suite". The location of the hotel is fantastic and the room had a gorgeous view of the lake. But that's about all the hotel had going for it. Firstly the whole hotel needs a refurbishment. The carpets inside and outside the rooms were all very noticeably stained. When we moved the coffee table in the room it was clearly not vacummed for weeks with popcorn and bits of chips underneath. We went down for what we hoped would be a lovely English country afternoon tea but the service was below average. While the staff were nice they were clearly short staffed and the presentation of the staff was more appropriate for a motel. The first thing that came out was the pot of tea which had Stains all over and clearly not washed all day but reused. The high tea was very bland and the buns and bread was stale. The cakes were quite nice. The next morning the breakfast was again very average and bland and the crockery didn't look or smell very clean. As I said staff were helpful and nice but just not up to scratch to what the hotel advertises itself to be."

This hotel has one of the best views in the Lakes for my stay of two nights..However, One of the windows my room was cracked and very dirty on the outside with some black mold on the window sill. Also there were Stains on the carpet.Overall the room and the bathroom was clean enough. The food left a lot to be desired. Both the Breakfast and evening meal was of Poor quality for a 4 star hotel.Just one example......Breakfast bacon covered in a white film !!I had a reduce winter rate £185 which did include dinner on my first night but I went out for food on my second night as the food was that bad.I could not fault the staff who tried hard to please and the duty manager listened to and took notes on my feedback about my concerns about the hotel. He suggested that the Hotel is due for a refurb in 2024/2025 but I suggest they need to start on the food now...It can't come soon enough,I certainly would not like to be paying the full rate of over £300 per night in high season for my stay..

We booked for Afternoon Tea with Champagne for 4 people, for my Father-in-Law's 80th birthday. This was such a disappointment, and honestly the worst afternoon tea I have ever had. Very poor staff, and poor hosting/communication skills. We ordered 3 full afternoon teas, and 1 gluten-free option. There were no scones for our gluten-free guest, despite pre-ordering! The staff then said they would bring extra sandwiches, (after we had said that it wasn't right for an afternoon tea, not to have scones). The extra sandwiches didn't arrive, until we asked again. They forgot to take our tea/coffee orders (no earl grey tea although it was listed on the menu that it was available) so the tea and coffee arrived after the sandwiches and cakes. The fruit scone probably contained 1 or 2 sultanas, and basically all the savouries and cakes were very bland. The cakes were very basic and seemed old (tasteless, hard, not fresh probably even bought in - from a basic shop). We had booked the Belsfield as a special treat, lovely location, and a grand hotel in a beautiful setting. But the decor is dated and it didn't feel grand at all. We were seated in the brasserie which was nothing special at all and the door to the outside was wide open, so very cold in the room. We will never be back, had far better afternoon teas at smaller venues.

Stayed three nights, fantastic views from our bedroom. Staff in general good, but not five star service. Staff need to remember what the customer wants, the customer gets.
