Hurst Marine

So,... if, like us,... you park at Milford-on-Sea and walk to Hurst Castle along the stoney beach it's around 3km walk as measured on Google Earth. As we were leaving Hurst Castle my wife suggested jumping on the last boat as like many others we were a bit tired and my wife is nursing major ankle surgery. We had no idea where the boat went to and how far the walk from it's landing destination back to the car park at Milford-on-Sea.I asked the guy from Hurst Marine these questions and he told me it's a 10-15 minute walk on hard, compact ground (not shingle he was insinuating). I took us closer to an hour to walk from the boat dock to the car park on some roads with no pavement.The moral of the story is; if you can walk back along the beach, I would recommend you doing so and don't be fooled by this guy who will lie to you to get your money.

We did a one-way ferry trip from Keyhaven to Hurst Castle then walked back to Milford from there - staff were friendly and helpful. There is a little cafe, more of a kiosk really, at the Castle, although that might only be there for high season. Photo is looking back at where the ferry drops you off.
