It's a bit of a stiff walk up the steep hill from Uppermill village centre to the church, given a warm & friendly welcome by the vicar & members of the congregation.

This church was incredible to visit! Immaculately designed and almost 1000 years old, St. Chad’s is a medieval relic that has been well preserved by the people of Saddleworth.

What an amazing little church hidden away in the most magical woodlandThere is some wonderful history in the area and it can be seen here amongst some old grave stones and beautiful walks through cobbled passage ways, through canapes of trees and past many little springs and streamsDefinitely worth a wander round if nothing more

A very enjoyable ring of eight bells. The back six bells were cast in 1781 by Thomas Rudhall and the ring was augmented to eight in 1884 with the addition of the two trebles cast by Mears & Stainbank. The tenor bell is 523 kg (10 - 1 - 6) and is tuned to G.
