Currently staying here as I write this review. Mixed feelings so far. Upon arrival I'm sure in one of the emails it stated to pull up out the front and you will be either directed to a parking space or valet parked - neither of these happened. We ended up finding parking ourselves and getting our luggage later (by driving back up to the reception and then parking again quite far away). Once checked in room was fine with a nice view but there was no fridge in room. Facilities are good at the hotel such as the swimming pool, sauna, gym etc, but unfortunately only one of us got to use them as the spa said my husband was too late to use the facilities at 7.02pm which is strange as we were told by reception at check-in adult only swimming was from 7pm to 8pm, also the information in the room said last entry time is 45 minutes before close - close being 8pm. So extremely disappointed by this as its the only reason we booked to stay here as opposed to other places such as the limetree inn. So overall quite a disappointing overnight stay which was the last of our overall 1 week cross country trip. Would we stay here again? I'm not sure we would, it's been a quite expensive 'room for the night' with no use of facilities.

Had a two night stay here in March. Overall it was very pleasant with good food, but found it pricey. The room was very comfy with a scenic view over the golf course (which was closed at the time so also very peaceful). Everything was in good order and felt fresh. It was mostly clean, although the kettle had clearly been used to cook pasta previously.Dinner in the restaurant was a bit fancy with some interesting and well composed dishes. Great flavours and beautiful presentations. Service was friendly and helpful. The setting is very atmospheric, changing throughout the day. Appreciate that the vegan option was flavoursome and not just a throwaway, but would have loved some more protein in it.Breakfast was satisfying and lots to choose from, including local and homemade options. Afternoon tea was fine, but nothing special.Whilst the grounds are lovely and nice to walk around, the location seems really isolated. It's a bit of a drive to any major populated places, and the price paid did not really reflect this.Enjoyed the swimming pool and spa facilities. Make sure to go when it's not busy so that everything is available!

Stayed for 1 night on 24th October 2023. The room was very good and with a view to the front of the Manor. Clean and tidy as you would expect. We used the spa facility which again was great. The only problem was there were wasps near the seating area.We dined in the Elements restaurant that evening and the service was very good. The food was tasty but a touch too fancy for my simple palette. Fine dining they call it.Beautifully decorated bar area and surroundings. It was very quiet midweek so lacked a bit of atmosphere but the staff were of course attentive. Breakfast in the morning was lovely with the backdrop of the surrounding countryside. The bar areas were again top notch and a pleasant place to spend time.We payed around £250 for the dine and dream stay over. With £45 each going to the cost of our evening meal. Bed was comfy and the rooms were warm.Yes, would recommend..

We had a lovely stay for our anniversary. Staff were very accommodating to us and our 4 month old. Breakfast was delicious, just lacking hash browns. Spa facilities were good and it was very clean. Only think lacking in the room was hot chocolate.

Pretty and well equipped room (although the bed was not firm enough for our taste), nice bar, friendly staff.Dinner in Elements was a total disaster though. The restaurant itself looks lovely. Service was attentive also. However, most of the food was totally devoid of flavour and was a waste of time and effort on everyone's part. The table next to us had a similar experience and sent all of their dishes back, only to leave hungry (as did we) with no other dining options available by that point as they had closed. On the plus side, the nibbles were nice - the bread and thyme oil was lovely. The black pudding bonbons with chorizo chutney were really tasty too. Even the 'cheeseburger' spring roll starter was not terrible, just a little weird perhaps. However, the crayfish cocktail starter and both the mains (herb tortellini and chicken) were terrible as were the sides we tried (scallion crushed potatoes and tenderstem broccoli with chilli oil that also had no flavour, let alone heat).Having booked a 'dine and dream' package (with £90 towards food), we were assured by the restaurant manager that, as she was removing elements from the bill, these would be adjusted for in our final bill. They were not. We had to explain this upon checkout and, after a bit of to and fro, the hotel manager was consulted and the bill reduced accordingly. The manager did not come to check with us or ask us about our experience, which was a shame (too busy perhaps, or maybe this happens too often). All in all, a really disappointing experience and one we won't be repeating.

We held our wedding there. Amazing place, fabulous location, the food is just fabulous and the service impeccable. The wedding day could not have run smoother and the staff could not do enough for you. The best day! Joe who was in charge that day ran a very tight ship from beginning to end. Good staff, nice bars and restaurants / terrace and the grounds are lovely and rooms clean.Unfortunately, we were disappointed considering the price (and the fact this hotel has its manor / grounds as such a key appeal) that it has currently almost the whole front facade blocked by building work, completely detracting from the building. Nothing about this was mentioned in the booking but it is very significant on arrival. Also surprised at some costs mentioned on arrival (like £10 additional per room service order) and the prices in the bar / for late checkout.Overall nice / decent but think you could get a better overall experience for the cost of the stay. Shame because the place has lots of potential.

Absolutely loved this place. The room was beautiful. Everywhere was clean and very well maintained, with a good hint of quirkiness, plenty of lovely choices for breakfast, all staff were very professional, and friendly. We definitely felt well looked after during our stay and will be back.

Wow, what a place!!! The reception staff were flawless, bar staff super friendly, our room (Superior double) was well worth the extra money. I found the entire place to be immaculate. The spa needs upgrading, but still great for now and I know it something they are planning. Id stay here again 100%, food was great and the prices for things like beers were very good for a hotel of this calibre, certainly not trying to rob people like a lot of places. We are fortunate enough to stay in hotels like this a lot and its one of the best yet.My only criticism is not enough child free time in the pool area... bit manic when we went down.

Set in countryside at the edge of a small village with an old church opposite and a river beyond. The entrance looks over the hotels own golf course.Inside the main public rooms are in the original manor house, modernised a bit but still very grand. My room was modern (it's been extended a lot) in another building. It was very fresh, clean with a king size bed. Power shower, big TV, kettle etc. It was qiiet, except for the owl which woke me about 4am.Had dinner in the Bunkers restaurant and bar downstairs in the same building. It was awful but a separate review as everything else was much better. Breakfast was in the main restaurant in the main building. Nice if simple continental breakfast and a satisfying full English breakfast. The restaurant looked out over the grounds. It was all very nice.Overall service in the hotel was good and there was nothing to complain about except that awful Bunkers place. Perhaps check prices as the hotel was more expensive than most other options, but did offer a lot.
