The Bon Vivant
Had such high hopes. Read some great reviews. Wanted to love this place. The good, our cocktails and small bites were great. Highly recommend them. The bad, don't have dinner here. The entrees lacked any imagination. Our roast was so fatty and chewy and the pork loin was well done, dry and hard. Both came with traditional trimmings. Zero creativity. Brown sugar butter cake turned out to be brown sugar butter cake croutons. Why? Wine list was not at all impressive. Atmosphere was loud as a pub. No idea what happened to our first server. Someone else came by midway through our meal. Have to think there are far better optionsfor dinner, sadly.

A nice find! Great food, a big selection of drinks and fast service. Everything we tried was tasty and reasonably priced. Staff was polite and attentive. The only downside is that it can become quite noisy. I would visit again though!

food and staff service was fantastic as always. Loved the atmosphere and stayed in bar area after our meal. The cocktails were delicious and the attention to detail by the barman with the lovely tattoos. Sorry we forgot his name. We think it’s Elliot. His wife is from Mexico. His service was first class and we really wanted to give him a special mention. When we arrived at the bar he gave us a warm welcome as he was doing with everyone.

Delicious Scottish fare, with unique twists to suit any pallet. But the best kept secret are the cocktails and beer selection. Highly recommend

Excellent food and a super nice vibe inside this well decorated Edinburgh bistro. We ate here early one Saturday evening and it was quite rowdy at first but it quietened down a little which was appreciated. The haggis bites as a starter were delicious! Both mains and deserts were well received too. Perhaps not the place if you’re looking for a quiet meal but if you don’t mind the lively atmosphere, it’s worth a visit for the great food!

Very good food, standard drinks, ok vibeBut what really killed our visit was the heavy stale air inside, it seems there was no ventilation at all and it was really difficult to breath and generally uncomfortable.So I'm really not inclined to visit again, at all ...

Good cocktails and food. Coravin is used for many of the wines so there are more interesting bottles open to try. Can be a bit loud so if you want a quiet meal this probably isn't the place. The candle lights adds to the ambience.

These guys have the classic cocktails mastered. A great Paper Plane (on the menu) and perfect version of The Last Word (off the menu). Don't miss this place.
