Blue Otter Skipton

A great narrowboat in a great location. Owners Ben and Liz ensure a personal and well-organised welcome – and that guests are feeling confident to take the boat out on the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Ben rode with us for a few miles on the first day, ensuring we knew how to operate the swing bridges and locks. You have two attractive options from Skipton with this boat: east through the fine Aire Valley – and into fascinating industrial heritage and architecture (like Salts Mill, with its grand proportions and Italianate towers); or west – via the canal's meandering and scenic route into Lancashire. The boat is well kitted out and (important for us – booking during mid-Oct) toasty warm with its central heating running. Plenty room to relax in the galley and a good-sized, well-appointed, bathroom. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable few days. Would I book Blue Otter again? Yes, definitely!

Great boat in a great area. Ben very helpful. In the week we had Blue Otter, we travelled from Skipton to Saltaire returned back through Skipton through Foulridge Tunnel and turned around just before Nelson. Highly recommend a canal boat holiday, and if on Leeds and Liverpool recommend Blue Otter. Not your typical hire company , but all the better for it.
