Edinburgh Holyrood Hotel
After following the hotel on Instagram and seeing all the new updates and refurbished rooms, we were really hoping to get one of those rooms. We checked in late after a long flight and the gentleman that checked us in acknowledged us as Marriott Gold members yet put us in a very old run down room on the 2nd floor directly across from the elevator. We stayed at the hotel 4 nights and were rarely acknowledged walking in or out of the hotel. Our room was serviced with towels each day but not cleaned in any way. The location was great and Probably the best thing that this hotel had going for it. It has a lot of potential and I just wish their Instagram page reflected what an honest stay looks like.

No complaints, definitely would stay here again. Clean, warm, quiet room with everything I neededand a comfortable bed. Very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff. Had one meal in the restaurant, a bit pricey (as expected), but the food and service were both good.

We were coming in late, and were happy to see that there was still someone up to welcome us.Hotel is really nicely placed near the old town and castle.Breakfast is delicious, wasn’t disappointed !Would highly recommend !

Employees are super friendly and professional. The hotel is undergoing much needed renovations. Noise was not an issue during the stay. The location is good. It is within walking distance to the Waverly station, shopping, restaurants, and historic sites. It's actually on the quieter end of town. The rooms are throwbacks to 1970s. They are sadly past due for renovations. This is the most expensive stay for the quality. On a good note, the beds were super comfy. The sheets were fresh and crisp clean. This was a short stay. Reservations for another local hotel were not available for the entire visit.

Edinburgh Holyrood Hotel
I have been coming back to the Holyrood for a number of years now for a recurring conference, and I have to stay, the staff are simply amazing. They are attentive, helpful, and simply lovely. The central location of the hotel makes it very easy to walk around Edinburgh. The only change I would love to see is their gym hours extended to 24/7. Can't wait to come back next year!

Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Had a weekend there with my daughter. The location was great as everything was within walking distance (we are relatively fit). Lots of lovely restaurants and cafes near by. Breakfast was great offering cooked and quite a variety of continental items. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Work being carried out so noisy at times. Only one lift working . 24-hour room service does not cover ordering food . More a 3 star hotel we felt. However, the bed was lovely and comfy!

A hotel under renovation will be nice once complete. Can’t beat the location being near the Parliament building and royal mile. There was only one lift working as of October 2023 and a few items in the room worked quite working. The service was excellent that the concierge and desk manager helped overcome all those issues. Parking is a local lower lever garage at £20 for a weekend. Pub and restaurant were friendly and inviting. Would definitely stay here again

Really nice hotel. We had a room at the back which made it feel quite dark ALL the time. Some things needed updated. Light bulbs out in the room. Marks on the walls. Soap dispensers grubby. Not massive issues, but issues nonetheless. We had breakfast, which was super. Great mushrooms, excellent coffee, which you can take out in a disposable cup. The staff are the best thing about this hotel. So friendly, helpful & can't do enough. As someone with limited mobility, I wouldn't recommend the location, although we were allowed to park right outside the front door, but Edinburgh is so busy, and you just wouldn't drive! Personally, I need to be in a more central location. If you're fit & able bodied, it's a good choice. At the moment (Dec '23) there's a lot of noisy work going on inside the hotel. It starts at 9am. Checkout was midday, but the room maid was banging on our door at 9.30am, shouting checkout!!". Public loos could've been better. Disabled loo was out of order. 3 of 8 cubicles were also out of order
