Paid for overnight parking. Called in this morning for coffee and mince pie, both were absolutely delicious. However the most amazing part was being served by GeeGee. Wow that girl is amazing and an absolute treasure, if I had a hospitality business I would steal her from you. She gave us a tour of the hotel, we now want to book because of her. Cannot say enough good things about her.

Perfect location - just outside Grasmere village but the views are all hills or woodland in every direction. It feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere. The grounds are lovely, with play areas. It’s equally lovely whether it’s sunny (nice terrace) or wet (cosy indoors). The staff and food are really superb.

Booked two rooms for a night August 2023. We all had a really wonderful stay and wanted to stay longer. The staff were great, easy to get hold of (despite reviews here indicating otherwise) and quickly addressed a couple of things we needed. We booked Sequoia and Azalea and each room was quite different. Azalea was accessed by a number of steps and was more of a traditional room , very nice large chairs and a private outdoor table and chairs. Sequoia was in the barn and had very easy access as it is ground level right next to the bar. It had an additional single bed to our pleasant surprise which is not shown in the website pictures. This suited our daughter perfectly. This room would be good if you had a dog too. Only minor issue was a bad smell in the bathroom, maybe a prior water leak. Staff took the feedback onboard. Location and views are superb. Overall an excellent hotel - you won’t be disappointed.

I thought this was a mirage when I saw it as I came down from Helm Crag. To my delight it was real and it was just the most beautiful place to stop and relax and take in the views whilst enjoying a well-earned cider. And just as I took my first sip the sun burst through the clouds, it was glorious! I told the barmaid that they must be quids-in but she didn’t quite know what I meant. If you know you know.

This was such a great find! Located off the beaten track (at least for those not hiking), was a wonderful place with delicious small bites and drinks. Hikers come and go, cats purring around, very dog friendly and very attentive team! 5/5! Was exactly what we were looking for to get cosy and chill. Does have rooms too which looked fantastic but didn’t stay (maybe next time!!).

After a wet walk to the Helm Crag, we spent a mesmerising after listening to the rain in the cafe at Lancrigg Hotel.Fairly priced and free parking (voucher for hot drinks), it is ideal starting point for this family friendly Wainwright. There is an interesting tombstone at the beginning of the route. Guess who she is?!

We arrived after a long trip from the Scottish Borders and were greeted immediately by a smiling and welcoming team. Laura and Serene. Settled into a great clean and homely room after being offered a choice and immediately settled in with a cuppa out on the terrace. Had a lovely dinner after a fresh pint of bitter - nice cooking and then great quiet sleep. Nice full breakfast followed by a brisk walk up to Easedale Tarn.I loved the setting and the woodland with its ponds which felt full of spirit and magic. Spend some time with the amazing trees which have been there for over 150 years. The service remained great. Simon ( the owner) then graciously showed us around. The big reveal - a stupendous upper room in the barn. Go see it ! Great for wedding events and beautifully crafted and built. This would be a magical place for that special day.Sad to leave after the second night. We were the only guests in that day but had good attention and a lovely send off.The Wright family have worked wonders. Thank you !

Location, service, food, perfection. What an absolutely brilliant place this is. You are made to feel like you are at home in the best possible way. You are in beautiful surroundings on a lovely walking route and close to Grasmere, food is exceptional and also is the service.

I kind of want to keep this review to myself... This place is a little known secret of the Grasmere area. Fabulous views, cozy rooms, chef inspired dinner menu, and right on the most popular trails in the area! What more can you ask for? ... Knock me down hot shower after a long walk"

If you like good food, comfortable beds, top-notch scenery, lovely hiking, and friendly staff, then check out the Lancrigg! We were met by Serene, who helped us though out our stay. Delicious food and wine and packed lunches to go. We hope to return some day. This place may become a full time-wedding event facility, which is understandable. However, it would be a shame if not available for overnight guests as well. Thanks for a memorable stay!
