It really did feel like stepping back into the Edwardian era when I entered this little pub with its authentic period decor, stuffed birds and a cosy fire in the back room. Except, of course, I would not have been allowed in here in the early 1900's! The pub originally stood in Bishop Auckland, but was dismantled and rebuilt here in the 1980's. They serve traditional beers and cider here, and you can get hot drinks here too. Ordered half a pint of lager with a pickled egg and a packet of pork scratchings. Would have tried one of their pork pies, but they were only serving them at weekends. No matter! The lager was good, and both the costumed bar staff and the atmosphere were friendly and welcoming. Worth popping in here when you're in Beamish's 1900s town!

They kindly topped our water up even though we didn't actually buy a drink. Extremely good service.

This fantastic Edwardian pub originally stood in Bishop Auckland. It's like you've stepped back to 1900. The serving staff are dressed in Edwardian costume. It is a proper pub serving cask conditioned hand-pulled real ale. It's a nice place to sit. Have a drink and take a break as it's very tiring walking round beamish.

Quality authentic pub in beamish museum, nice pints and old style snacks like pickled eggs and onions.

I could have stayed here all day. Great beer, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Nice open fire and so much memorabilia. Definitely going back.

Not much atmosphere and was nearly ripped off at the bar, paid for drinks and barmaid came to us about 15 minutes later saying card hadn't gone through.Checked receipt she had given me, which was the wrong receipt. Obviously part of the plan! Was dumbfounded when she realised that we could get connected to online banking and we could show her money had gone out of our account straight away. After a discussion we had between us it was apparent that because we had disabled people in our party they thought oh here's someone we can con. Sorry love you underestimated our intelligence!"

A great addition to Beamish to have a pint in the pub. You really do get nostalgic about what kind of people would have drank there .

Fabulous 1900s boozer, complete with sawdust on the floor, taxidermy displays, original decorations and furniture.Nice range of traditional beers, with Bitter, Stout, Blonde and cider all on hand pumps. shame they're only served in plastic disposable glasses. Real glass would have added to the experience.

Excellent visit to Pre-Great War pub. Literally a spit and sawdust hostelry, there is a small woodshavings moat around the bar. It sells authentic beers which you can have in a souvenir plastic glass for an extra £1 if you want an Al Fresco drink outside which I did. The Sun Inn is very small, but there is a street bench where you can sit and watch the Trams and Buses run back and forth around Beamish Museum. The bar person was attired in period costume and was very helpful.

They've definately created the atmosphere of olde inside; eerily quiet and everyone staring at you when you go in as if it's not your local. I had a pint of locally brewed lager which was on draft when I popped in one Tuesday. Very nice indeed.
