Created in 2018 to mark centenary of WW1 and commemorate those from South Ribble who lost their lives. The back contains the names of each of the fallen, painstakingly researched and created by the small team at South Ribble Council. The trench wall surrounding the site contains a small garden with places to sit and think. The memorial itself is based on the lost soldier - thais why its a soldier cut-out - the soldier is deliberately missing. The sweeping peak is supposed to show the relentless uphill battle of WW1. The bridge behind is a replica of an Inglis Bridge superbly recreated by Mr S. Barritt and the people at DP structures.

Beautiful to visit, but on such a sad occasion for me, after visiting a loved one we were losing, my dad then brought me to this, and what a glorious sunny day, what a moment to remember all those who have faught for our freedom but lost theirs , it puts so many things I to perspective a huge iron monument with all the names of people who died in the war . It was an honour to stand I front of this. Its huge and the colours in the sunshine are just outstanding. Time is precious people. If your interested in history and wars. This is a beautiful spot to just take in a piece of history in time.
