A good friend has recently moved to the area so when I visited I suggested taking a look in the town centre, my grandmother recommended the butchers so I had to check it out especially when I worked in one as a young kid. I was amazed at the display at Scrivener & Thornton the quality of the meats is brilliant, although I only purchased some sausages I will definitely be returning to try the other meats they have there. The cooked meats stand had my mouth watering and the sight of those pork and stuffing sarnies are ingrained in my memory. I’m hungry now thinking about it. Top quality butchers!

I've used this shop for many years but I do think they need to work on their customer service skills. I popped in late afternoon. They guy behind the counter asked me what I wanted, told him a scotch egg, he then told me to wait while he finished cleaning a tray!!! I wouldn't mind so much but the shop was not busy and some of us have our own jobs to get to. He didn't say please when he asked me to pay either. He needs to work on his manners and customer service skills!

Best sausage rolls you can get .. proper meat and crusty pastry.When ever in the area stop and buy a few !!!Also hot pork sandwiches which are a local delicacy.Meat always good quality and good friendly service. A traditional proper butchers !!!
