Spean Bridge

A hostel there but otherwise a standard train station.

This is an impressive traditional railway station. The station and platform are well maintained and even on a wet soggy day there is shelter. It is just a short walk into Spean Bridge.There is a notice board and I liked the story of those arriving for Commando training in March 1942. Some say they arrived to the reception of a pipe band and others say they marched in full uniform to Achnacarry

An excellent example of a small, rural, highland railway station with some of most picturesque aspects in the areaIt's not the biggest but then it doesn't need to be, and the facilities on offer are perhaps not as extensive as in larger stations or towns, but It's a fine wee station nonetheless
