Royal Sportsman Hotel & Restaurant
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Royal Sportsman. It is true that the rooms are quite compact but we had everything we needed for our 4 night stay. The bed was comfortable and everything was immaculately clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful, going out of their way to assist with parking and a special breakfast request. The breakfast is excellent with a good range of choice. We ate at the hotel on two evenings and the quality of the food and service were brilliant. Porthmadog was a great place to stay and we would certainly return to the Royal Sportsman without hesitation!

I have been using this hotel for 15 years. The staff are polite and helpful. Lovely breakfast. Clean rooms. Its been refurbished which has made it better.

Royal Sportsman Hotel & Restaurant
An ok hotel which is a little old fashioned. Avoid rooms 5 to 9 on ground floor. Small stuffy rooms with one window that opens on a corridor and not to outside. TV in room very small and poor quality sound. I feel the room was not worth the money. Good breakfast and evening meal and staff were nice. Sorry to say I am not sure I would use it again.

This was a stopover for us while visiting Wales for 2 days. The accomodation was lovely, especially my room which was an upgrade to a twin room. The included breakfast was nice but not amazing! My ham and cheese Croissant was very strange and like I’d never had before. Normally the ham and cheese is in the Croissant and then it’s toasted so it melts in there, but this came out with thick sliced cold ham and sliced cheese. So I had to cut it open and make my Croissant with it being cold. I left most of it.The staff were lovely apart from one bar tender who made us feel like we were a massive inconvenience to her. We didn’t feel welcome at all and almost left. She made us stand there waiting for a drink without acknowledging us. I know she was busy but I also work in the hospitality industry and just letting us know that she’s not ignoring us and will be with us in a minute is manners.

Royal Sportsman Hotel & Restaurant
We had an excellent meal in the Royal Sportsman. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive and every effort was made to ensure that we were happy with our meal. There is a great selection of vegetarian options and the quality and presentation of the meals was top class. The price was surprisingly reasonable for such quality too.

Royal Sportsman Hotel & Restaurant
Took a random motorbike trip out and the Royal Sportsman had a cancelled room. I stayed for the 2 days it's was available and continued my road tour from there. They had a covered and gated carpark. Food was amazing and the service was great. Thank you

Great place to stay . Nice rooms . Bit noisy at night outside . But soon quietens down.Nice Welsh breakfast staff a bit up and down had to wait a long time for someone to take our order then had to wait for food a long time. Some staff were run off there feet while others just didn't care. Both guys who served us were extremel good one lad stood our for his excellent skills think he worked In the kitchen but was serving us that night. The bar lad was also efficient. As were the staff on reception and the lady who took our breakfast orders .

Royal Sportsman Hotel & Restaurant
Enjoyable few days here in the hottest period of the year. The room fan was essential and very welcome. En suite with basin in the room not in bathroom was a bit quirky but workable. The staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfasts were excellent and we has a very enjoyable 3 course dinner with a fair few drinks involved to celebrate our anniversary. 2nd floor room was quite a climb for our 70+ legs, would definitely look for a garden room next time. Easy access to the major sights nearby, Portmeirion, Beddgelert, Criccieth, Caernarfon and Snowdonia.

Lovely bar and restaurant, rooms need an upgrade. Some guests were very loud, this can't be blamed on hotel but thin walls don't help.

Excellent, traditional hospitality. The staff and management were fantastic, helpful and enabling.Outstanding breakfasts where nothing was too much trouble.They have a great chef who produced excellent evening meals.We will definitely be staying again.
