Alton House Hotel
Lovely place. Menu is a little limited, but a very nice atmosphere. Breakfast is very nice & staff are lovely

2 stars is a little harsh, but.....The room was so dusty and needed a good clean, the bathroom was dated and needed modernisation. The shower leaked and there was multiple bodged repairs.The bar was soooo expensive £17+ for pint of larger, Vodka & coke and 2 packets of crisps !The service was OK and the decor in the entrance and lobby/bar was OK.It wasn't great value, which is another part of the reason for only 2 stars , with the above in mind this is the reason for the low score.

Came for a Sunday lunch and all i can say is wow the food was fab plenty available, the decor in the restaurant was beautiful, the service was fab Ann was constantly asking if everything was okay and if there was anything else we needed. What a wonderful member of staff you have, chef also done a great job. We will be back again x

We attended a birthday party dinner with 16 guests, the staff seemed a little run ragged.Service could have been better, but there was a very large event going on all weekend. All the people staying at the hotel were attending the event in period costume so I can forgive the staff for being worn out. The building is a little dated but very clean, tidy. As for our food WOW the portions very generous excellently presented and piping hot.No rating for rooms as did not stay.

Alton House Hotel
Just spent Saturday and Sunday night in a twin room with a friend.The room was nice and clean, the beds comfortable and the shower fantastic.We spent a good few hours in the very relaxing bar on the Saturday night trying their range of Hogs Back Brewery beer. The lady behind the bar (Ann?) was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was very good and the staff go the extra mile. Plenty of space to chill in comfort.Excellent place to stay.

Room was a little old fashioned clean and comfortable. Breakfast was frustrating as I had to keep asking for everything to be topped up as was empty when I arrived.Service from all was exceptional and the highlight of the trip. In particular the hotel manager was fantastic and went above and beyond to make arrangements for me to get to a wedding after being let down last minute. Couldn't have asked for more and will be back next year to stay for another wedding

My friend and I called in for Sunday Lunch and I am still looking for the right words to describe the wonderful meal we had, Staff..Food..Surroundings and Cost this Sunday Lunch is without doubt one of the best I have had.A special mention should go to Anne the waitress, great service and personality.Thanks to all concerned for our meal today.
