Had a brilliant day. What a wonderful house and gardens. Tickets bought last for a year as many visits as you can make, so great value. There are quides that give you the history on the house, hut you can go it alone. My 4 year old great granddaughter loved it so much we had to go round twice.

I really enjoyed this house. It's not very big, but charming. There's also a nice kitchen style garden and a cafe with indoor and outdoor tables. The placement of some mystery objects in the house will keep you guessing...

A real gem hidden away in a small Leicestershire village.Don't let its small dimensions put you off. It is a great day out.The volunteer (Alan) was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic that he made the visit even better. He answered every question we had with further interesting facts. The garden was so well tended, and all the plant labels were excellent, especially information about the use of the plants in the 1620s, plus references to Shakespeare plays where appropriate. The tea room finished off a perfect day, with gorgeous homemade cake, absolutely delicious.Thank you to everybody for creating a great day out.

Quaint and interesting house and gardens are charming and beautifully labelled. Staff very helpful and friendly. However, I suspect for most people it won't occupy them for more than an hour or so and whilst the free return visit for 12 months is a nice touch it is one that I'm guessing most people won't use which makes the £5.95 entrance fee seem a tad pricey.

Halloween witch hunt. First visit, very enjoyable. Our guide for the evening, took us for a tour around the house,in the dark, and explained to us about the huge efforts that were taken to ward off evil spirits. I'll definitely visit again, next time in the daytime, so as to take in the full history of the building. Lovely café, well worth a visit. I believe the house is closed during the winter months, reopens in the spring, best to check before you plan your visit.

Wow! For a small, volunteer staffed site the 1620s house is amazing. The gardens are the best education garden I've seen-there are informative labels on all of the plants and various different themed areas. Inside the house each room has reproduction artefacts and antique furniture to represent 1620s rooms. Each room also has interpretation cards for the architecture, the people and the use of the room. The volunteers were eager, friendly and knowledgeable. The tearoom was lovely with giant slices of cake! Well done to all the team!

Such friendly staff, and value for money for your ticket! With free re entry for 12 months.Cafe staff were friendly with a plethora of fresh homemade cake.My favourite thing about the whole site is the time that has been put into the information plaques by each tree and plant, telling you what it is and history / myths about the plant! Will be visiting in the future for a relaxing walk and a coffee !

An unexpected treat. A lovely old house and gardens looked after by a lovely team of volunteers. Such a change to be able to actually sit in chairs and touch things!Great dressing up opportunities! Our guide was kind and friendly and we learnt a lot on our personalised tour. Time flew past. The gardens were a delight and so was the tea room in the barn. So pleased we found it.

Wonderful, interesting little house, really well kept and staff are really knowledgeable. The cafe is very nice, particularly the homemade cakes, the lavender one is a favourite of mine.Garden is lovely, with herbs and plants they used to use in cooking and dying fabrics, vegetables to be self sufficient. All in all pleasantly surprised, very enjoyable.I will add though people who have trouble climbing stairs would not be able to experience the upper floors first hand but having said that the lovely guides do offer to show a video of the upper floor to those who cannot manage to get up.

Fantastic relaxing place. Great value for money only buy 1 ticket for year. Always lots of events. Gardens are amazing and plants and trees labeled with interesting facts. They often have kids trails different themes like Halloween and bonfire night etc. My son loves them as always different so can visit lots of times and he still has interest. Lovely friendly cafe, amazing choice of cakes as well as cobs and soups etc. All staff friendly and always on hand to help if answer questions. Definitely would recommend!!
