It's wonderful area for a day visit. Barbeque is allowed. Nice area for Family and kids. Lot of space to play. Some Sand area and water area for kids to play.. good place on a sunny Day.

We love going for a walk around Rutland Waters. They have several cafe's for refreshments. Bike hiring, Boat/Kayak/Paddleboard hiring. There is a climbing area too. They even cater for wedding venues. We have a parking permit which supports the reservoirs around this area.Looking at the water is very relaxing and different kind of watersports are available. There is a new laser shooting game available which is placed outside under trees with views of the Aqua Park. The Aqua Park is very popular and has been for many years. This year is is particularly huge with lots of climbing areas and slides. Can definitely recommend a visit. One off parking fees can be expensive therefore if living in the area permits work out cheaper.

Fabulous place to cycle. A decent route around the reservoir of about 20 miles. Not as flat as you might imagine, and some variation in tarmac and off road gravel tracks. But overall a great place to ride. Loads of places to park, not so many places to grab a sandwich etc along the route..

Lovely place.Very nice walks around the reservoir.Some paved,some trail n some wooded.Plenty space.Lots parking.Nice little trip on the river boat.Nice cafes.Thoroughly enjoyed my visit

This place was always a favourite of mine when I lived nearby. Parking was a bit pricey, though - I spent more than £12 for 5 hours. We had a great bike ride of over 19 miles around the lake. I would recommend the south side if you want a peaceful and scenic experience; the north side is more crowded and noisy, with people playing loud music and setting up BBQs in places they shouldn't. I don't enjoy the north area of Rutland Water (Whitwell area) because I think people don't respect the nature and leave trash behind. It's also hard to find a relaxing spot on a sunny day - even though Whitwell is where we usually start our cycling. Apart from that, it's a wonderful place for families. You can bring your own bikes or rent them there. Plan your cycling route and make some stops at the nice pubs on the south side. Enjoy the beautiful views.
