Brilliant afternoon! All roasts thoroughly enjoyed. The veggie roast dinner was possibly the nicest I've ever had. The potatoes weren't amazing but the rest of it was incredible. I didn't notice with the veggie roast but the two meat eaters did mention their cabbage/kale was gritty as if it hadn't been washed properly. With the beef, it came very rare so if that's not your thing I'd mention it. Puddings were great & the kids portions were big too. It's expensive but well worth the extra few quid. Staff were chilled & helpful too. Thanks!

A stunning country pub with excellent service and food to match. We stopped by for some lunch, we each had steak and ale pie. Thoroughly enjoyed it and loved the kale, something I don't usually think to have. We'll be back again

Couldn't of asked for more of this place, it's lovely, staff are great, food was great, dog friendly, gorgeous fires and fantastic atmosphere. The selection of beers was probably the best I've ever seen in a country pub as well.

We visited the Nag's Head for the first time in many years for a birthday family lunch. There were nine of us including a 1 year-old and a 3 year-old.We were seated in the Orangery which was perfect, with a lovely view to the gardens. The atmosphere was very relaxed, lots of other families, some with dogs, and children popping out to the garden to have a quick run around between courses. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful from start to finish. The food was essentially traditional pub food, but done to a very high standard. We all had a great afternoon.

One of the best meals I’ve had this year! The food was exceptional and the whole table said the same thing. Beer and Wine choice was great too with the staff really knowing their stuff to recommend the best wine pairings. All staff were really friendly and helpful. Even better that it’s dog friendly. Would give it 10 stars if I could.

The Nags Head
Fantastic place. Lovely peaceful setting with extensive kid-friendly outdoor space too. Only popped in for a quick drink and a few items from the bar/lunch menu but I was struck by the excellent friendly service from the staff who had a great knowledge of the beers and fare on offer. I visited on a quiet Thursday afternoon during term-time, I suspect this place could get busy with families with toddlers and dogs at peak times which is something to keep in mind. Well worth taking a trip or making a diversion to.

My self and 7 friends had a meal at the Nags Head this evening. A previous regular place for us that had reopened after being closed for sometime. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. My starter pate you can see from the photo was very lacking. A piece of toast toasted on one side with a very mediocre pate. My wife's main a burger was presented on a plate with not even a piece of lettuce on the plate. The chips which most of our party had were inedible. One of our party only eat fish. The only fish on the menu was fish and chips which they didn't have, so other than a crab starter on a piece of very soggy bread which our friend had as a main. Our bill was £637 which included a tip of £57. Which we knocked off as our only way of objecting to the awful food. We did complain but got no constructive answers from the lady we complained to. But I suppose seeing a sign on entering advertising for a chef, a commi chef and a butcher, should have been a warning.

What a disappointment. Staff dismissive , everything on their timescales - customers need to fit in.Food fair only. Portion size very average. For the price, this just is not stacking up - very average food, expensive for what you get but most of all, lacking any sense of customer service. Will not return.
