Oatlands and Oatleigh Home Care Bromley

Oatlands has been very good since we first started dealing with them. My mum is now in the home, and they have been excellent. It was a bit unsettling for Mum in the beginning, but the staff were great in settling her in. The staff and the management have been very good.

My aunt was moved into Oatlands Care Home in 2021 during Covid restrictions as she could no longer care for herself at home. No one wanted this move but the family all lived too far away to be able to care for her and it wasn't fair to continue to rely on her friends who were also elderly. However, we need not have worried. My aunt was really cared for, and cared about, at the Home. We managed to visit several times as Covid restrictions were lifted. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who always made us feel welcome. We had a 100th Birthday Party for my aunt at the Home in April 2023 and they all helped us to celebrate and ensure my aunt had a wonderful time. Sadly, she died 3 months later when she suddenly went into a decline. Again the home kept us well informed, we were able to spend a valuable hour with my aunt a few days before she died peacefully 3 days later. The staff were with her when she died ensuring she was not alone, again keeping us informed all the time. We had the wake at the Home and were all looked after as they joined us sharing memories of my aunt. I can't praise the staff highly enough and the person-centred ethos of the Home that ensures they treat each resident as an individual.

Was offered a place, then after the hospital visit they refused our family member a place. This was found out because a nurse informed us when the home and the manager stated they'll call us personally with a yes or no. But being cowardly they didn't call. They stated they don't deal with complex dementia patients on their website they state they do, another wrong information. They also wanted to charge £5000 a week for the care that's profiteering not caring. Their fully mobile just has dementia and on drugs but apparently they do not have people or nurses qualified to administer any drugs. On our visit the 2nd floor stank and tbh I'm glad they are not going here now. They can reply to this review but if they name person or their family then court action will be started for breach of confidence and data protection. Everything stated is true.

My mum has been a resident here for the past 10 months and despite a few hiccups and a bit of an adjustment period, she seems happy. I haven't spent a lot of time inside the home due to the pandemic, but what I have noted is a good level of care and content residents. Staff are kind and attentive, mum is always singing their praises which is great sign. The ladies on reception are a delight (Laura, Mariam & Mimi) and Juliana has been brilliant at dealing with any issues and communicating with me when necessary.

Efficient administrator, some kind staff but the management are bullies and won't tolerate any, even vague, criticism. My mother was miserable living there until the receptionist (yes receptionist!) gave notice a week before last Xmas. Compassion-less.
