The holiest of churches. Father Stavros is very special. He makes the world a better place.

First designed by Arthur Blomfield, the Cathedral was originally built in 1882 as St Thomas Church of England. In 1887, further work on the church was done and the chancel was added. It stayed as a Church of England Church for another 78 years before being bought using the St Nicholas Charity Trust by Greek and Cypriot business magnates. In 1965 it was officially converted to a Greek Orthodox Cathedral. During the 90s, the church had a designated bishop (hence the term Cathedral). The church has since been a spiritual center for Orthodox Christians in West London and a cultural center for Greeks and Cypriots alike.

I went with my husband last night who recently had an operation on his head and has to wear a hat. Everyone started making comments and told us off without asking in advance why he is wearing a hat. We got really upset and it was so frustrating. I am so disappointed that in the house if God mortal people like all of us are judging and making comments instead of welcoming everyone in God's arms. The church is for everyone for the poor for the rich for the sinners and for people who will have to dress the way they have to when especially you have a health problem. GOD AND JESUS never put this kind of regulations so I am really sad that we had to face this kind of behaviour.

For Greek people that need to feel close to God and pray! But WE have to think that is a divine place and that's why we don't have to speak during...thank you

Great church. I loved this church which saddens me. After I got married here, it went down hill. The service is wonderful, the old helpers not so, they are rude, disrespectful and completely unChristian! But, apparently they have to be there and can't be told to stop coming. I've seen and heard things done by the so called helpers, that ought not be repeated here. I stopped coming a few years ago because of being poorly treated. My heart is humble, I'm a loving person, being surrounded largely by people who are not like this made it too difficult for me to cope.

The church itself is really nice and so are the priests. However, the service is mostly in ancient Greek, which no one understands these days, 2020. Also, there's not enough actual Bible readings and far too much liturgy, which is not original Scripture. They should be reading lots from the Gospels every week. Because we are living in extremely fearful, anxious and painful days, we need more that ever to receive direction from the church, in the form of specific Bible readings each week, where the priest talks about how we can apply the Scriptures to our problems and fears in our daily lives. It would be great if they regularly read out Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes and how people should apply these to their daily lives to become better, more real, authetic Christians. Especially as we're living in days where many powerful evil forces all around us are trying hard to bring Christianity down. Joel Osteen from Lakewood Church does a fantastic job of applying Scriptures to directly helping individual believers in Christ in their daily lives - That's why he has 5000 people a week attending his church service.
