The Red House Nursing Home

I worked there for about 7 years all the workers and employees were amazing.I have moved to London I still wanted to go back and work there.

Recently I have been speaking regularly with a resident I know well, visiting her twice now. The staff are always friendly, caring and helpful, thus retaining their excellent reputation.

My elderly mother-in-law has often been very difficult and from previous respite care experiences we dreaded finding her a permanent nursing home. Nothing had ever been right so we put this off until it became evident it was essential for her to be looked after 24/7.We were recommended the Red House and right from my initial contact it was evident that this was a nursing home that truly cared about their residents. At all times we are kept up to date on my mother-in-laws well-being and every effort has been made that we can still visit her ‘pod style’ during the pandemic. The staff always make us feel welcome and nothing seems too much trouble It is clear that she is very happy, well looked after and safe where she is and that is the most important thing for us.We have spent many years worrying about her and only wished we have moved her to the Red House sooner.I would highly recommend the Red House to anyone looking for a nursing home for their elderly parent. Had a very negative experience with a lady at the desk, trying to pass on a message to our extremely vulnerable (and very much pandemic- isolated) grandfather and she shut us down, complaining that there wasn't time and other residents with more urgent needs were the priority. As a result, our grandfather has been left even more isolated and cut off from family contact, which has contributed in our belief to a more rapid decline in his overall health. This is appalling. People who work in elderly care, or with any population of vulnerable adults, by default should be vetted for necessary compassion and basic professionalism. We understand it has been a trying time for nursing homes and those who work within the healthcare sector, but that gives no excuse for the level of gatekeeping and condescending attitudes we have encountered in this specific nursing home when simply trying to keep communications lines open with our vulnerable elderly grandfather. Isolation can kill, so nursing homes have a duty to facilitate good communication systems fo its residents, esp when in-person visits are limited if not halted altogether due to the pandemic. I hope these concerns will be aired and discussed and changes will be implemented. We will continue to try and keep communication lines open and hopefully we will see a change for the better in how they handle this side of their healthcare operations,.

My aunt has been cared for by the staff at the Red House for nearly a year following a traumatic time in a local hospital. The staff are approachable, professional and caring. Both my husband and I often visit at lunchtime and the food is fresh and appetising,which is so important as it is often a highlight of the day. A special mention for Jane, the activities co-ordinator, who goes out of her way to manage events for residents and their relatives, Christmas and Bonfire celebrations along with a lovely Jubilee tea party. She is unfailingly cheerful and it is clear to see from her enthusiasm how much she loves her job. We have peace of mind knowing that our aunt is in very good hands.

i visited The Red house nursing with a friend who went to see their aunty and i was so impressed with the cleanliness of the place....it was not like a nursing home as you may think, but more like a hotel. ..beautiful well tended gardens, lovely reception area and friendly staff. After that visit, i feel much better about ending up in a nursing home....well as long as it is The Red house nursing home and at least as good as. Well worth a visit

Every time I have been to the Red House I have found all the staff to be cheerful and very helpful. When visiting a close friend, who is a resident, I have been very pleased that she tells me how lucky she is to be living there. She was previously living alone and anxious about the future and the thought of having to go into a home. Having had a few falls she had a spell in hospital and then went to the Red House to recuperate for 4 weeks. During this time she realised how much she enjoyed having company, having her meals prepared for her, her laundry taken care of and all the other domestic duties having your own home involves, being taken off her shoulders. She has been at the Red House for nearly 3 years now and celebrated her 100th birthday there in style. When Covid struck us all it was a great comfort to know that although she was unable to have visitors she was in a safe environment and well cared for. Thank you Red House!

I cannot fault the care given to my Brother in Law. The staff are so kind and nothing is too much trouble, paying attention to the small details that mean so much to both the resident and their family.A well run family Home, so different from larger organisations that can be so impersonal.I cannot recommend the Red House highly enough.

My Mother had a major stroke last year at the age of 91. Her partner and the rest of our family had to find a care home for her as she requires 24/7 care. We were so lucky to find her a space at Red House, the staff and management have been brilliant. One of the telling factors is that the staff have mostly been there a long time so everyone knows each other and all their residents. My Mother is progressing well, managing self feeding, use of t.v.control and regaining more speech, cannot thank the staff enough for all their efforts.
